    Animal Island

The Animal Island (Animal Island in English) is a place that is only in the video games of GameCube DnM +, AC and DnMe +. It is the first separate area of the town in the series, similar to what would happen years later with the City in City Folk / Let's Go To The City as well as with Tortimer Island in New Leaf.

Complete vision of Animal Island joining different ones

The Animal Island is made up of a series of palm trees and flowers, a small beach line in which shells appear just like in the town, a pole next to the pier with a flag on which the player can place the design they want, and two houses with a different design than the ones you can find in the town.

    Summary

    Description

    Animal Island

Animal Island is actually quite small but elongated. At the far right of the island is the flagpole and a little above it is the pier. At the other end are the houses. The beach is located in the middle of both ends and the island, due to its tropical climate throughout the year, enjoys lush vegetation with many palm trees and flowers, this being the only place where palm trees appear naturally and therefore the only way to get coconuts. This tropical climate also allows the player to tan at any time of the year. Animal Island has exclusive music that plays 24 hours a day.

    Animal Island

The physiognomy of each island may vary from one game to another. The most common form of the island is an entire island proper, but it can also consist of several islands linked by bridges. For example, it may happen that the area where the mast is located, the area of the houses or both at the same time are separated on different islands but linked with wooden bridges.

The house above can be customized by the player. Inside you will find two blue aloha polo shirts and another two red aloha polo shirts. This house, as it does not have a Gyroid like the one in the town, it will not be possible to save the game. The house below belongs to the islander as his poster indicates.

Other details to take into account is that the player will be able to plant, in addition to palm groves, the trees and fruits that appear in the town, as well as place panels.

    How to access

Animal Crossing y Dōbutsu no Mori +

    Animal Island Animal Island

To get to the island in these games, it is essential to have a Nintendo Game Boy Advance console connected by a specific connection cable to one of the ports of the Nintendo GameCube. Turn on the GameCube with the Animal Crossing, and once you have loaded the game, connect the Game Boy Advance.

Captain should appear mounted in his boat at the beach dock, but if he hasn't, follow the instructions on the informational sign next to the dock and take a ride around town and come back. If you talk to him, he will ask you if you want to set sail and if you answer that of course you will immediately leave for the island. Once you get to the island, Captain will notify you that you can turn off the Game Boy Advance.

In this exclusive version of Japan, the way to get to the island was completely changed. No longer is it necessary to use the cable or the GBA, instead you must first pay your mortgage in full with Tom Nook. Then you will have the option to buy your private island for 998.000 Berries. It should be noted that in this game there is an island for each player, and it is possible to visit those of the other players. Captain will meet, as in previous games, on the dock, and will take you if you ask.

    Trip

    Animal Island Animal Island

Gigantic shadow in the water, this is one of the rarest easter eggs in the series

During the trip to Capitán Island, he will sing you one of his songs. They all have the same rhythm, but their lyrics vary, generally being stories from his life. It is also possible that it will rain or clear the day regardless of the weather in the town, and fish shadows will appear in the water, but you will not be able to fish until you reach the island. The first time you go to travel and, therefore, to talk to Captain, he will ask you for a name to give the island. If you try to return from the island as soon as you arrive, Captain will scold you and prevent you from doing so. There is the possibility, although it is very rare to see (between 1-4% depending on the month), that a gigantic shadow appears under the water, presumably of a whale, on the round trip.

    Islanders

    Animal Island Animal Island

    Some island neighbors

There is only one neighbor per island and one island per town. Therefore, every time you go to the island you will meet the same islander, and it will only change if you start a new town. 18 islanders are present in DnM + and AC and another 18 were added in DnMe +, making a total of 36.

The male islanders will wear the Blue Aloha Polo while the female ones will wear the red version of it. Unlike the neighbors of the town, the dialogues of the island neighbors will constantly make references to the Captain, the sea, the tropical climate, etc. One of the most outstanding characteristics of these characters is that they have a favorite fruit and another to which they are allergic. Taking one or the other will greatly influence your mood during the GBA minigame.

The houses of the island neighbors, initially, only have one piece of furniture. That is why the neighbor will ask the player for certain furniture. When the player gives them to them, they will receive in exchange exclusive furniture that cannot be obtained in any other way (see the list below).

While in DnM + and AC the island neighbor appears on the island without the player having to do anything other than going to it, in DnMe + it does not appear by default and the player must bring them using their respective e-Reader card.

    GameBoy Advance

    Animal Island in the GBA

When the player goes to talk to Captain with the intention of leaving the island, he will offer the player the possibility of taking a copy of the island on the Game Boy Advance. To do this, the console must be on and without a screensaver. It will warn you that if you turn off the Game Boy Advance you will lose the saved island. If the player accepts, Captain will start transmitting the data to the GBA. The first of this game mode will then appear on the GBA screen.

Once the transmission has been completed, two options will appear on the screen:

    • See Island Animal Island: You will be able to see the island from the GBA and interact with the island neighbor.
    • Swap Island Animal Island- You and someone else can swap your islands using the Game Boy Advance Game Link cable to connect two Game Boy Advance consoles.

You will handle a white hand and your actions will be limited to pressing the button Animal Island. If you press on the door of the islander's house, he will come out of it. You can also make it enter by pressing again on the door. The islander neighbor will travel the island on his own or he will move to where the player presses. The island neighbor will also be able to shake the palm trees and catch the coconuts, either on his own or at the player's command. If he doesn't pick them up, the player can pick up the coconuts also with Animal Island and bring them to the neighbor to pick them up. Every time he picks them up and eats them, a heart will come out that expresses his joy and he can drop a bag with 100 Berries, a tool or some piece of furniture, suit, wall or carpet, which the player can collect the next time he visits the island , if you save the data.

An important requirement to be able to unlock all interactions with the islander is to have previously dropped tools on the island from the GameCube so that they can be picked up and used. Flying objects will appear on the island from time to time. The flying object will be one of two or three possible objects (fruit, furniture, tool, etc.) whose image it has, which will change intermittently. To catch it, the player must make the neighbor pick up the net and direct it towards the object.

    Islander fishing

If the island neighbor holds the rod, he can go fishing. If you catch some fish, like the Octopus, it will increase your happiness, while if you catch trash you will be sad. The fish he catches he will release immediately.

The islander will not be able to interact with either the shells or the flagpole, which will appear without a design. Nor with the player's house. Sometimes the neighbor will be in danger and will display an SOS message. If the player does not help him in time (simply by picking him up and putting him somewhere else) he will get angry and ignore the player's instructions. If you have the shovel at the moment it happens, you will be digging like crazy and burying garbage all over the island. To get rid of the anger, you must give him a fruit (a coconut from the palm trees for example).

On the other hand, during the time in which the neighbor is in his most happy state (by performing various actions that make him happy, such as eating several fruits that he likes, catching a fish) the neighbor will start to bury the objects that you have collected and given to him. It is worth mentioning that the rhythm of the music varies depending on the mood of the neighbor, going slower when he is discouraged and faster when he is happier.

To save the data of the GBA island, in the GameCube game, once you get to the town, you will have to talk to Captain again and go to the island again, which will appear as you left it in the GBA (with the respective objects buried or scattered on the ground).
