Atlantic is a sea world from the movie "The Little Mermaid" released in 1989. It has appeared in three games in the series: Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II, along with their corresponding "remakes".

Description

Viewed from the Gumi Ship, the appearance of this world is that of an immense rock with holes filled with water. In that water is where mermaids, newts and various marine animals live.

It is a world that changes with respect to the games in which it appears. In Kingdom Hearts we transformed into a mermaid and we could travel it like a normal world, only that some controls were adapted and we could not perform special attacks.

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Sora does not change form and in Kingdom Hearts II we can only go through two areas. It has numerous and large underwater areas in which it is difficult to get lost. In certain areas there will be very strong underwater currents that we can only cross holding onto a dolphin or with the mermaid style ability. On the underwater rocks there are tridents that indicate how to get to the palace of King Triton. You can also access a sunken ship.

History

Kingdom Hearts

The story of the game is similar to that of the movie, but it is omitted that Ariel gives her voice to Ursula and the appearance of Prince Eric is also omitted, only in the statue that Ariel has in his grotto and that, later, Triton destroys . Eric's image in the game is like the reference of what humans are like out of the water. Nor does Ariel aim to know the surface, but to know other worlds traveling together with Sora, Donald and Goofy.

At first, Sora is reluctant to disembark but Donald convinces him by transforming him into a merman. After this appear Ariel, Flounder and Sebastián. They will give a small swimming course that will serve Sora during his stay in Atlantica. Once finished, Sora heads to King Triton's castle following the trident marks painted on the walls.

Upon reaching the palace, King Triton is enraged upon seeing Sora's Keyblade and expels them from the room. After this, Ariel decides to help Sora to find the Lock and for this they go to the sunken ship. They find a valuable piece called Royalty and Ariel keeps it in her lair but her father discovers everything and destroys the treasure. Úrsula takes advantage of the situation to trick Ariel into stealing the king's trident. Sora and the rest go to Úrsula's lair and defeat her there but this was only the beginning as they must confront her with the power of the trident. After defeating her, Sora seals the Lock that was in Ariel's lair.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Atlantica is the same as in Kingdom Hearts, although the differences are that you can only fight against the second form of Ursula and that there is no transformation of the characters with respect to other worlds (Sora, Donald and Goofy are walking as if swimming on the ocean floor). Like the rest of the help characters, Ariel will only appear as an Allied Card.

Kingdom Hearts II

This world undoubtedly takes a back seat, something like the 100 Acre Forest. The world is made up of five songs, three of them from the movie, which must be sung for the story to unfold, it will also have to be done in segments, when we get requirements (let's learn Magneto, etc ...). There will be no appearances of Heartless or Nobodies and the world will be made up of two rooms: the ocean garden and the throne room where Triton is.

There is a kind of "final battle" against the giant Ursula, but in the form of a song.

The world ends with a song of "thank you", one could say, to Sebastian, Flounder, Sora, Donald, Goofy ... In this game, unlike its previous ones, the complete story of the film is told without omissions.

After these requirements you can complete the entire story of Atlantica, which ends with the song of Sora, Donald, and Goofy, which will tell Ariel that the worlds are always together and that they will return one day.

Curiosities

Former command bar relative to Atlántica in its initial stage.

Atlantica was originally going to be a normal world in Kingdom Hearts II, not as it currently is: a world based on minigames of songs, since within the game data there is a "beta" command bar of this world.
In the underwater labyrinth there is a room where a large jet of water comes out in a vertical direction surrounded by Marine Neons (if you have the Mermaid Style ability it will be possible to swim against the current to find that room). Defeat the Heartless and search the room for a thing that looks like a spiked ball. Throw Piro at it and wait for it to explode. A secret door will open leading to the Great Atlantic Sea.

In the first Kingdom Hearts, in Ariel's Grotto, there is a small figure that when we make it sound, a certain melody sounds, this melody is from the theme Who ... Am I (Who ... Am? Translated into Spanish) belonging to to the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack. Interestingly, in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Xion says the same phrase as the melody is called, after fainting on the Destiny Islands and being held by Riku. Also, in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, in the final episode when Xehanort possesses Terra's body, Terra-Xehanort holding Aqua by the neck also pronounces the same phrase, obviously the phrase serves as a connection that relates the Kingdom Hearts saga with the Final Fantasy saga.
