La battle pass season 6, Also known as Darkness Rises, is an update to Battle Royale in Fortnite, released on September 27, 2018 and ended on December 5, 2018. The theme revolves around darkness. The cost of the battle step is 950 V-Bucks (or $ 9.99). Players will receive two exclusive outfits, Calamity (which has unlockable styles) and DJ Yonder.

Season 6 was the first season of the Battle Pass to introduce pets and music to the game, as well as a new consumable, Shadow Stones. Changes to the map include the addition of damaged areas, cornfields, floating islands, and the haunted castle.

Season 6 continues the story that began in season 3. The runes that were created by Kevin in Season 5 corrupt the area around them and spawn the Shadow Stones. Kevin reforms, joins Loot Lake bedrock and rises out of the air, leaving a giant hole and vortex in Loot Lake and creating a giant floating island with the house on top. Not long after, the island began to move towards the runes and activate them. After he finished activating the final runes, he lifted all the runes from the ground and drew them towards them. Kevin then aborted all the power and energy that was put into them and threw them to the ground. He then returned to Leaky Lake and began to absorb energy from the vortex. Soon after, Kevin shot a beam of purple light into the sky and created a huge portal. Then the island he was holding exploded (destroying the house) and the pieces of Kevin that had grown around the house when Kevin activated the runes flew all over the map and started spawning Cube Monsters. These monsters can be killed for shield and loot. Kevin also created smaller cube fragments. Later, Kevin's outer shell began to crack and continued to crack throughout the week until finally the outer shell fell off. From then on, every hour Kevin would throw a little Nexus liquid into the vortex. On November 4, during a live event, the final Nexus fell off and Kevin began to rapidly spin and charge until he finally exploded and destroyed the entire Fortniteverse. The souls of each skin ended up in The In Between, which kept every universe (including our own) in existence. Then a crack appeared and turned into a butterfly, and every player on the server had one. The butterfly flew for a while before it touched all the players recreating the universe and the island. The floating island pieces are covered in grass and fell to the ground and Kevin's remains are found in the center of Lake Leaky. Later, Tomatohead created an army of former Durr Burger employees and attacked Durr Burger with roaches, forcing the restaurant to close for good. Durr Burger, wanting revenge, created his own food truck and went to war with Pizza Pit. The two food trucks moved across the map. Currently, the food trucks are located on Retail Row. Meanwhile, a robot named AIM jumped out of a plane and landed at the Flush Factory. He made his way to Leaky Lake, spying on the townspeople and later to a dance party at Tilted Towers. At the end of the season, an iceberg with a castle on top floated towards the island.

On December 4, it began to snow on the spawning island.
