El Carnival is a spring event introduced in Animal Crossing: City Folk. In real life, the event takes place two days before Ash Wednesday (between February or March depending on the year). The event is organized by Conga, who will be in front of City Hall at City Folk and in the plaza at Animal Crossing: New Leaf. During the event, confetti will fall from the sky throughout the town and as some neighbors point out, it will not snow or rain for the whole day. Carnival is based on Shrove Tuesday, the last day of Carnival preceding the start of Lent. Although aesthetically it refers to the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro.

Objective
Animal Crossing: City Folk
In City Folk, during the day the neighbors will walk through the town and challenge the player to various games where they will have a chance to win sweets. However, if the player loses, he or she will have to deliver their candy or 500 Berries to the winning neighbor. There is no limit to how many games can be played with neighbors, but only those outside of their homes will want to play.
The games are as follows:
- Rock, paper or scissors: A classic game, although this time it is not played with your hands. The game ends when someone wins twice. If the player wins, they win the candy of an automatically chosen color.
- Telepathy: The player has to guess the word the other neighbor thinks twice in a row. If the player guesses, the neighbor gives him a candy of the color that the player wants.
- In which hand is the candy: The neighbor will propose to the player to guess in which hand the neighbor has a candy twice in a row. If the player wins, he wins the candy of an automatically chosen color (the color that the neighbor had in hand).
- Imaginary football: The neighbor will propose the game and his voice will imitate that of a football commentator. The player switches between "goalie and kicker". You have to guess twice where the ball will go (left or right). If the player wins, the candy of an automatically chosen color wins.
- Face the cross: Another classic game, unchanged in real life. If the player wins, the neighbor gives him a candy of the color that the player wants.
The sweets that the player has won can be given to Conga, who will exchange them for furniture from the Conga series. However, the player must have three sweets of the color that Conga asks for in order for her to deliver a piece of furniture.
If a player buries a trap on Carnival day, it can turn into a treat the next day.
Obtainable Items
Sweets are earned during Carnival events and can be delivered to Conga according to the color ordered. Some sweets can be obtained before Carnival by purchasing them from the village shop during the event. The player can also use candy collected from previous events, such as Halloween or the Egg Hunt. The player will also receive sweets from the villagers.
Each candy color represents a type of feeling, which Conga will describe when she receives them. These are described below:

Animal Crossing: New Leaf
In New Leaf, the player must collect feathers instead of sweets. During the day, feathers can be seen falling from the sky along with confetti (feathers can be obtained using a net). This event has a slightly challenging goal due to the difficulty of identifying the color of the confetti feather. The event can be played with friends in multiplayer both locally and online, making it a bit easier to complete groups of feathers by working together.
During Carnival, you can find the neighbors walking through the town wearing the carnival outfit, they will also whistle the town's melody. Neighbors inside and outside their homes will offer to play with the player to get feathers. Some neighbors will give the player a pen without asking for anything in return.
The games in New Leaf are as follows:
- Exchange- Neighbors can ask to exchange one of the player's feathers for their own (swap colors).
- Riddles: the neighbor will make gestures that represent a concept. The player must choose the correct concept from a list.
- Rock, paper or scissors: the neighbor begins a countdown with which when reaching 1, the player selects rock, paper or scissors. The player only has to win once to get the pen.
If the player obtains the specific number of feathers requested by Conga or obtains a rainbow feather, Conga performs a dance (or a special dance if the player has obtained the rainbow feather). After Conga has finished dancing, he will give the player an item from the Conga series.
Obtainable Items
Feathers can be collected from the sky during Carnival; you need a net to catch them. After delivering the feathers that Conga requests, he will dance and exclaim according to the color of the feathers that are delivered, and will give you furniture from the Conga Series. Below are the available feather colors.
