La Egg hunt is a Spring event introduced in Animal Crossing: City Folk. The event is the real-life equivalent of Easter Sunday and as such is celebrated on a different date each year, but it always falls on a Sunday. The event follows the idea of the egg hunts that are organized on Easter day where Coti Conejal, the representative and organizer of the event, exchanges these eggs for furniture from the Egg Series (or the Egg Hunt Series in New Horizons, which only naturally obtained through this event.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

Egg hunt in City Folk.

In City Folk, on the day of the Egg Hunt Coti will be outside the Town Hall and will entrust the Player with the task of finding the Easter eggs that he buried throughout the Town, there will be a total of 30 eggs which the player can open to discover that they have inside, of the 30 eggs, 18 will have Sweets and the remaining 12 will have Bonuses, Coti will exchange the bonds for furniture from the Egg Series. The Neighbors will not be involved in the event, but they will comment on Coti.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

In New Leaf, on the day of the Egg Hunt Coti will find himself in the Town Square where he will challenge the player to find the Easter eggs that he hid throughout the town. The event features six different types of eggs that can be found by fishing, diving, shaking non-fruit trees, digging, hitting rocks, and popping gift balloons, making the event more challenging and varied than in City Folk.

Upon finding an egg, the Player can eat it in order to obtain the reward found inside. Inside the eggs there may be sweets, reward bonuses which the player can exchange for furniture from the Egg Series or a super prize bonus, which can be exchanged for a photo of Coti. The only item in the egg series that cannot be obtained by redeeming bonuses is the egg basket, this is obtained by giving Coti the six different types of eggs, which is the first thing she asks for.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Egg Hunt is the first seasonal event to occur after the launch of New Horizons, and unlike previous installments, it will last for several days. Coti will appear on the first day to tell the player about the event and will award him the Egg Hunt Bed project outline. If the player does not enter the game that day or for some reason did not find Coti, the scheme will arrive in the mail the next day.

As in New Leaf, there are 6 types of eggs that can be collected: the aquatic (obtained by fishing), the wooded (it is found hanging from the trees), the blue (it is obtained by bursting colored balloons), the woody ( it is obtained by hitting trees), rock (obtained by hitting rocks) and terrestrial (obtained by digging). These eggs can be used as manufacturing material for the "Egg Hunt" series. Eggs can be eaten, and they will give you energy in the same way that a fruit would.

Curiosities

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, there is a rare bug that causes 2 of the 3 rocks that are spawned on the day of the Egg Hunt to become real. This can cause serious problems, such as making it difficult for you to enter certain parts of town, such as the beach. So the Player must make sure to break all the fake rocks before the end of the day to prevent this from happening.
- It has been reported that traveling back in time to a day after the Egg Hunt, then loading the game, and then shutting down the console without saving, can fix this issue.
On April 1, 2018, for the first time, two events other than the Fishing Tournament and the Bug Hunt fell on the same day. These were the Day of the Pranks and the Egg Hunt, consequently, both Bianca and Coti appeared on that day.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the egg spawning rates, specifically forest, blue, rock and aquatic eggs, was modified several days after Coti's visit, this due to the negative reaction of the fans, due to that eggs made it difficult to get more valuable items like DIY supplies and Fish. This egg drop rate change does not apply on the day of the Egg Hunt.
