"Fortnite turned me into a suicide junkie" cover of the Mirror

El British newspaper Daily Mirror has taken on the cover a story related to the fashion video game. The headline reads, no more, no less, Fortnite turned me into a suicide junkie. As you can read on the official page of this newspaper, the news tells the story of a father who saves his son, Carl Thompson from a terrible fortnite addiction. Carl is supposed to have plunged into a spiral of debt and drugs after spending more than twelve hours playing games. Battle Royale de Epic Games

When the situation became untenable - even more so - Carl (17 years old) decided that the only way to solve it was to commit suicide. But evidently he did not. There is little to add to the yellowishness of the news and the doubtfulness of its veracity. This is not the first time someone has tried to make a killing at the expense of a successful video game. But in this case, we have had the opportunity to delve into what is behind the story.

Thanks to Chris Bratt, the host of the People Make Games program, who you can follow on twitter through his profile @bratterz we have identified the author of the news. This is Matthew Barbour, a "journalist" for the Daily Mirror who has already tried to take advantage of other fashionable video games. Yes now Fortnite Battle Royale is in the spotlight, a couple of years ago it was about Pokémon Go

You can read the full story in a Bratt Twitter thread, but broadly speaking, he prepared an article for The Sun newspaper with the following claim: I am working on a story about Pokémon Go and I urgently need to speak to someone who plays it and can describe any potential negative effects - maybe it's affecting your dream, your relationship, your job, etc. The payment for this collaboration was 100 pounds, and it required no proof.

Ryan Brown del Daily Mirror, has also reacted to the Fortnite history, suicide and drug addiction. Through Twitter has commented, As someone who writes about video games in The Mirror I can say with all my heart that this cover is full of tabloid shit.

As someone who writes about video games for The Mirror, I can wholeheartedly say this front page is a load of sensationalised shite.

Fortnite Battle Royale para PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch y PC is a free Fortnite game mode that has taken ideas from PUBG to offer a more casual experience, although no less complex, in which 100 players engage in combat on a large map full of locations.
