Instead, they are made up of furniture that is all related to a specific theme, but is unconventional and not normally used in the home, and can resemble models or souvenirs. The number of furniture in a theme varies between themes. Examples of themes are the theme of space and the theme of construction. Having a complete topic at the Academy of Decorative Arts is worth a bonus of 3.000 points plus 3.000 points for each article of the complete topic. There is no bonus for a full theme in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

    Sets

    Furniture Furniture

    Chess Set in New Leaf

Sets are small groups of furniture that have a common theme, they are smaller compared to a series and a theme, they generally do not have a matching wall or floor. For example, having a red sofa and a red armchair will complete the red furniture set. Sets cannot fill a room unless more than one of each item is used, but they can complement each other and other sets, themes, and series. The Academy of Decorative Arts bonuses for complete sets are 1.000 points multiplied by the amount of furniture in the set.

    Furniture Furniture

    Instruments in New Leaf

Furniture categories are larger groups of items that share a particular function and were first introduced in Animal Crossing: Wild World. They provide the player with a bonus from the Academy of Decorative Arts if enough items of the same category are placed in the same room. Originally, there were only four categories: plants, musical instruments, paintings, and scale models, until a fifth category, Dolls, was introduced in City Folk. These categories were further expanded in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, where dozens of additional new items were collectively added to the categories. New Leaf also saw the name change of the Paintings category to "Art" and the shortening of the Musical Instruments category to simply, "Instruments".

    Furniture Customization

    Custom Nordic series.

A new feature in Animal Crossing: New Leaf; Once the player has earned 100.000 Berries by selling items to Paca, has 10 T-shirts and 50 furniture in the Catalog, and has played the game for at least 7 days, Al will wake up in Recycling Gear. For a small fee, you can change the appearance of certain furniture. Options include changing the color of the furniture, adding a design, or using minerals to create a crystallized effect. Custom furniture has a furniture sheet of a different color instead of the standard green, depending on how it was customized.

The ability to customize the furniture in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, is unlocked by selecting its corresponding lesson.

    Furniture types

Despite the limited size of the furniture available, there are many types of furniture with different uses. Some furniture can be manipulated by the player by changing the way they operate within the room.

Below are the different types of furniture.

    Chairs and sofas

Chairs and sofas are generally a type of furniture that the player can sit on. These also include armchairs. Depending on the furniture, a player can generally approach the chair from the front to sit in it, while some armless chairs, such as dining room chairs, can sit when approached from any direction.

    Beds

Beds are normally used by the player to lie down. The beds are not to be confused with the attic bed, which is used to store the game. The player can lie on a bed approaching from both sides. If they are in a double bed, or if the bed is directly next to another bed, they can move to the other side when they move in the direction of the empty space. If the space is occupied, they will collide with the other player and return to the space they were in.

If the player lies down on a bed, they will be seen with their eyes closed, as if they were sleeping.

    Lamps

Lamps can be used to illuminate the room when they are on. Lamps also affect the look of the house from the outside. If all the lights in the house are off, the house will not have lights shining through the window, and vice versa.

    Storage

Storage units are used to store items that the player has in his pocket. Storage units replace Animal Crossing's basement. Storage units take on the appearance of typical furniture, such as dressers, cabinets, cabinets, and refrigerators. Unit can hold up to 90 items in Wild World, 160 items in City Folk, and 180 items in New Leaf.

In New Leaf, if a neighbor's house is visited, the player can open a storage unit. They cannot access any items, however the player will comment on what they can see and sometimes they will even find furniture that will be given to the player by the neighbor who owns the house.

    Watches

The clocks can be positioned to show the current time and operate as real-time passes. Some clocks chime on time.

    Televisions

Televisions can be activated by pressing the action button while the Player is standing in front of them. There is a different program for each hour in the game, although the player cannot change the channel. The weather is shown on TV and can indicate the weather for the next day. A little easter egg that television requires is that every week, on Mondays and Sundays at 3:33 AM, the currently playing program is cut off and a strange message is displayed for 1 minute, until 3:34 AM A.M.

    tables

Tables, along with storage units, are the only piece of furniture that allows other pieces of furniture to share the same space in a painting. There are many different sized tables in the set, and they can hold decorations, fruits, and flowers.

    Decorations

There are many different types of decorations, including paintings, plants, musical instruments, trophies, vases, scale models, dolls, and other items. Many have significant high Feng-Shui values, and add character to the room, and some have animations like the fireplace.

    Music players

Music players are used to play any of the Totakeke songs that the player may have received after listening to their shows. They work in a similar way to televisions in that they can be turned on and off with the action button. Only one song, played in a loop, can be played in a room. Some players affect the quality of the music.

    Wall furniture

Animal Crossing: New Leaf, this type of furniture is placed on a wall instead of the floor. Examples of wall furniture include clocks, fans, and lamps. Wall furniture is sold in the Tendo and Nendo Shop.

    Collectables

Some collectibles can be turned into furniture when placed inside the house. Fish, Bugs and Underwater Creatures can be placed inside the house. Fish appear in fish tanks, while Bugs appear in cages. Neighbors can give away their Photographs, which first appeared in Wild World and then return in New Leaf. When the player interacts with them, the neighbor's favorite motto will be read aloud, along with their birthday and star sign.
