    Giant goblin

Giant goblin is a Clash Royale epic rarity card that can be obtained from the Jungle Arena arena (Arena 9). Template: Protection Template: MagicWords

    Strategy

    • Using a second unit as a tank for the Spear Goblins after the Giant Goblin is defeated will allow them to stay on the field longer and deal more damage. This is because Spear Goblins are untargetable shortly after they spawn, meaning the opposite Tower of Crowns will target any of the player's other units within range. The Miner is particularly effective as the player has more control over when the Miner will be within range of the Tower of Crowns.
    • The defending player must be careful not to use fragile troops like Bats against the giant Goblin. An inopportune deployment can result in Spear Goblins targeting their fragile swarms and quickly eliminating them.
    • Despite the similarities this card has to a Giant, certain counters like Musketeer are less reliable because spear Goblins can draw it out before it can counterattack.
    • Shock and Snowball create great synergies with the Giant Goblin. Their cheaper cost and damage threshold is significant, as using them to defend Minions or Goblins will allow Spear Goblins to attack swarms efficiently.
    • Likewise, the Fireball has good synergy with the Giant Goblin because Spear Goblins can take down defenders like Musketeer or Electric Mage.

    • The Giant Goblin's medium speed, high health, and decent damage allow it to effectively punish an opponent's Elixir investment.
    • The Giant Goblin goes well with Sparks. The Giant Goblin moves a bit faster than her, making it difficult for the opponent to get the area damage value, and the Giant Goblin can be used after a Spark is placed on the back to defend any opposing lane that punish her, of any kind of units. Damage from Spear Goblins can also help spells completely eliminate swarms that generally counter Sparks.
    • The Giant Goblin can situationally counter the Lava Hound. Wait until the Lava Hound is near death, then place the giant Goblin in the center of all the Cubs to not only tank the Cubs' damage, but also attack them with the Spear Goblins that he carries in his backpack. He will then counterattack with most of his remaining health.
    • Spear Goblins have a longer spawn delay after death compared to other units like Battle Ram. This means that the Giant Goblin and Spear Goblins cannot be hit with The Log, unlike the Barbarians in the Battle Ram.
    • The Giant Goblin's unique ability to move and attack in separate patterns allows him to "kiting" units while simultaneously dealing damage to them.

    Counterstrategy

    • This is less effective on troops that move slower than the Giant Goblin, such as PEKKA. The result will be that the attracted troop will only follow the Giant Goblin into the other lane, but not across the bridge.
    • If there is not enough Elixir to field a tank for the swarm, the defender must wait for the Spear Goblins to fixate on the Tower of Crowns, allowing the swarms to gain defensive value.
    • As such, high-damage-per-second mini tanks like the Prince or Mini PEKKA are the most effective single card counters for the Giant Goblin, as they are not threatened by the small damage from Spear Goblins and defeat the Giant Goblin before he can reach the Towers of Crowns.
