Etymology

Its Japanese name, Mu, refers to an onomatopoeia of a bear like its catchphrase in Latin America, "grrre."
Its English name, Grizzly, refers to the species of bear known as the brown bear. Alternatively, grizzly also means "gray", however that does not apply to him.
Its Spanish name, Gruñón, refers to the irritable temperament of bears.

Grumpy has yellow eyes with black pupils and brown eyebrows. Its main color is dark brown and beige. The inside of his ears is blue. His starting attire in City Folk and New Leaf wears a 3-Ball T-shirt. He has a beige muzzle and a dark brown shiny nose.

Personality

Grumpy has a touchy personality, Grumpy usually appears to be agitated and in a bad mood and is more difficult to befriend than other types of neighbors. When talking to the Player, he tends to get angry if the player disagrees with him or refuses to do him a favor. Like all fussy neighbors, Grumpy will invest in his hobby and will frequently challenge the player to various competitions. He will easily get along with sporty, haughty and other prickly neighbors, and sometimes lazy and sweet neighbors as well. However, you will find it difficult to socialize with lively neighbors, as they will appear over-stimulated or immature. Grumpy will also enjoy spreading rumors about other neighbors.

Home

In Animal Crossing, Grouch's home, mostly furniture from the Cabin Collection, has the Cabin Wall and West Floor. There are three shirts shown on the left side, a Buffalo Skull and a Campfire. It has a tape recorder that plays "Tota-safari".

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, he has a more western house. He still has the West Floor as his floor, but he replaces his Wallpaper from his last two appearances with the Lunar Horizon. Most of the furniture in your house now comes from the western theme, it still plays Tota-requiem if you have a music player.
