Adapting Titanfall's lore to Apex Legends
The history of Apex Legends, from which we can extract details only from the initial cinematic and some brushstrokes found on the game's official website, takes us around 30 years ahead of what happened in Titanfall 2. There, by the hand of the pilot Jack Cooper and the Titan BT-7274, we had to face a group of mercenaries called Apex Predators.
Of all of them, the only one that manages to survive and escape is The Blisk cube, a character we see in the introductory scene of Apex Legends.
The South African pilot has already made gold with his first contract in the war between the IMC and the Militia, so he has traveled to the ends of the galaxy, on a planet unknown to the saga Titanfall, with the intention of continuing to fill his pockets by creating Apex Games, the Battle Royale that gives meaning to the game in the form of a bloody sport that can be broadcast.
The lack of Titans in that corner of the universe, known as the Outlands, is also common in all the worlds of The Frontier. Of all the parkour system of Titanfall there are light actions such as climbing structures, the possibility of sliding on the ground and, inherited directly from Titanium case 2, Pathfinder's hook. One note, the robot seems closely related to MRVN, a faction of the Militia from the second installment with which it shares certain similarities such as the salute with the thumbs up or the death of the slap.
The rest are ideas similarly adapted as executions, the descent of supply packages in the same way that the titans fell, the fact of not having fall damage or the easter egg related to collecting dolls of the Loch Ness monster, a common joke in the games from Respawn Entertainment.
Details that new players will appreciate and that will make the old ones smile. And precisely because of all those differences and some few similarities, Apex Legends sold as an experience based on the universe of Titanfall rather than a game closely related to the franchise.
