Start by turning on your PS4 and pressing the button Su of the controller to then scroll right the top menu. So locate the icon Settings (the one in the form of a toolbox), access it by pressing the key X on the controller, and look for the voice Temi, to access it. Su will open a screen with two options: choose the first, that is Select theme.

On the next screen, you will have it prominently displayed all choice of themes available on your PS4 system. If you want to change the theme and wallpaper by choosing one of the default console ones, you have three options at your disposal: Flow, Dual e Particle.

If you've never changed the original wallpaper, what you see is Flow blu, so once you confirm an alternative background type, you will also be asked to choose between multiple colors. Now I will describe the procedure for changing the PS4 wallpaper with one of the many wallpapers available on the PlayStation Store. In this regard, I remind you that on the PS Store there are both free wallpapers, offered periodically or permanently, and paid ones.

If for the former you just need to have a PSN account, for those to buy you have to pay on PlayStation Store, as you do with the games and other content offered by the platform.

Once you enter the PlayStation Store from the PS4, using the shopping bag icon with the PlayStation symbol, you can open the search by pressing the button Su of the controller and then the button X icon with magnifying glass.

Now, type the word with the on-screen keypad "Theme", to get the results of the themes available for download. Once you have chosen the one to use, press the button Download. Alternatively, in the menu Subject of Settings, you will find thePS Store icon with a direct link to the catalog of themes available for download.

Once the download is complete, all you have to do is go to the menu Temi as seen for the default background procedure. The difference will be in the fact that, in addition to the preset themes (Process from application to course commencement, dual e Particle), you will see the downloaded themes icon.

    Create a custom background

    How to change PS4 wallpaper

Arrived at this point, I move on to describe the procedure to follow for put custom wallpaper on PS4.

The first step you need to take is definitely to get yourself one USB pendrive. Alternatively, you could use an external hard drive or any other USB storage device.

If you need to buy a USB storage device, get one that is not too large (the themes are small in size), for example a USB pendrive, like the ones I recommended in my dedicated buying guide.

Well, now that you've got yourself a USB storage device, it's time to get started with customization. Take the USB device at your disposal e connect it to your PC (or, in any case, to the device that contains the images you want to use as a personal background on PS4).

When the drive is recognized, you will need to open and inside it create a new folder called IMAGES (capitalized).

Proceed, therefore, by inserting all the images you want to use as a background for PS4 in the folder you just created. In this operation, I recommend that you prefer high resolution images, as long as they do not exceed the resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels are PS4 and PS4 Slim and di 3860 × 2160 pixels on PS4 Pro. I remind you that you can also use one of the screenshots you took on PS4 (by pressing the key Share controller).

Now comes the coolest part, where you can apply your very own backgrounds to your PS4. Therefore, remove the USB key from the PC (or, in any case, from the device that contained your images) and connect it to one of the USB ports available on the console.

Then go to the menu Settings PS4, which you can access by pressing the button Su on the main screen by moving to the right and pressing the key X icon with toolbox.

Open this menu, go down to the item Temi, open it and go to the option Select theme, then press X on the item custom and finally on that Select image. Arrived here you can confirm your choice USB storage device, to view all the images previously copied to the external memory.

Once you have chosen the image to use as a background, you can also edit it, for example using the analog sticks, to do it zoom on the parts you want to use. With the same method you can too change the angle. The important is confirm the changes, each time, with the key X of the pad.

The next step is choosing the option Dim area functions, which serves to add a transparent gray space at the top of the screen, right where the text describing the PS4 menus appears. The last step of customization requires the choice of background color when the custom one is not shown.

I would like to suggest one last precaution before applying the changes, that is to press the button X on the item Preview, so as to take a last, quick look at the final result.

After that, apply the new wallpaper and enjoy it in the menus of your PS4.

    Restore the original wallpaper

    How to change PS4 wallpaper

While having a unique customization of your PS4 is something that can be very pleasing, I can understand that sometimes you want to go back to the simple and sober look Sony originally intended for its console.

Well, you must know that returning to this setting is very simple: just go to the menu Settings, search for the entry again Temi and choose the option Select theme. From the next screen you can choose the called theme again Process from application to course commencement di blue, so as to have the initial PS4 theme again.

Alternatively, from the menu Temi, you can search for the item default, to reset the PS4 default background color. Also remember that you can delete the backgrounds you no longer want to use by selecting the latter by pressing the key Options of the controller and choosing the item Delete from the menu that appears. Easier than that?
