You've already thought about it but, rarely using the PlayStation 4 you have at home (which is practically monopolized by your brothers and / or sisters), you don't know how to install fortnite on ps4? No problem: if you want, I'm here to explain how to proceed, then tell you what you need to get this game and what is the correct procedure to install it and keep it updated on the PlayStation.

I would say that it is appropriate to start by answering one of the most frequently asked questions about the famous Battle Royale of Epic Games: "Is Fortnite really free?" Yes, Fortnite is one of the best free-to-play video games available on the market (as well as being one of the most played ever) and as such you can download, install and play it without paying a cent. Also, unlike what happens on platforms like Xbox one, the PS4 version doesn't even require paying for a subscription.
Which subscription am I referring to? Obviously al PlayStation Plus, the subscription service designed by Sony that is mandatory to be able to play all (or almost all) games online with online multiplayer mode. To be clear, you have to subscribe to play titles like GTA 5 online, but, as I have already explained to you here, it also guarantees other advantages, including the backup of online saves and the offer of free games every month.
Therefore, this subscription required to play most of the online games available on PS4, is not required to play Fortnite. Instead, what you can pay on Fortnite is the virtual currency, called V-Buck: the only one that can be used for the purchase of skin e battle pass.
The former are aesthetic customizations for game elements such as weapons and characters, the latter are packages that if purchased give access to a series of functions and customizations, as well as guaranteeing the reimbursement of other V-Bucks to spend in the game. In summary, therefore, Fortnite on PlayStation 4 can be downloaded for free and does not require any type of subscription. So what do you need to have to play it? Nothing complex, quiet.
First of all, I'd say just one good internet connection it is practically mandatory, since downloading the game and continuous updates are operations that could take a long time, if not done with a fast and stable connection. Also, having a connection with low ping (i.e. low latency) is essential for playing online games well. You can find out in a few steps if yours is a good connection by running a speed test.

Another aspect to consider before proceeding to download and install Fortnite on the PS4 is the subscription to the PlayStation Network. If you are already a frequent visitor to online game servers on PS4 and can access the PlayStation Store from your console, then it means that you are already registered. If not, the PS4 itself invites you to create an account after opening the PlayStation Store (the icon with the blue shopping bag) from the main menu.
Registration is in itself simple, as it only requires the insertion of some personal data, such as name and surname, date of birth, an email address, a password and a nickname to be used online. I remind you that, if you are going to download and install Fortnite on your PS4, you must also have enough disk space to accommodate it. Although the installation of the base game (without updates) weighs only 6,69 GB, what I suggest is to have approx 50 GB free on your PlayStation 4, so that copious and generous (in terms of space occupied) updates can also be installed without problems.
In the event that the free space on your console is less than 50 GB, you can uninstall the games, connect an external hard drive or even change the console hard drive by inserting a larger and faster one.
How to download Fortnite on PS4
Having made the necessary premises above, I would say that everything is ready for download Fortnite on PS4. With your PS4 connected to the Internet, start the procedure by logging into the PlayStation Storeby pressing the key X of the controller on the icon that you find in the main menu of the console (depicts a shopping bag with PlayStation symbols).
At this point, if you haven't already automatically signed in to the PlayStation Network, the PS4 itself will ask you to enter yours Login ID and Password to be able to access the online store. Once you have entered the information, move to the button Log in and confirm by pressing the key X of the controller. Now that you are in the online store, move on with the directional arrows of the pad up and select the button that looks like a magnifying glass.
Now you just have to type "Fortnite" in the search field and move to the right to press the key X on 'game icon. Now you can start the download of the title, using the button Download. You can then follow the download process by selecting the section Notifications from the top menu of PS4 and selecting, precisely, the icon relating to download for free.
How do you say? Does the download of the game seem to take ages? Actually I cannot deny you that the data to download are many and for this reason the download can take a long time. However, there are some precautions for speed up PS4 downloads.

How to install Fortnite on PS4
What if I told you that you have already completed the installation procedure with the download procedure? Yes, that's it, and the reason is simple: it is the PS4 itself that proceeds with the installation of the games downloaded from the PlayStation Store, once the download is complete (or in any case the download portion necessary to start the game has been reached, since some titles can be started and played up to a certain point while they are still being downloaded).
To make sure that the download and installation of the game have finished, simply press the button X on the title image in the PS4 main menu. If ready, the game starts immediately, otherwise the download progress bar opens.
However, what I want to recommend to you is always keep Fortnite updated. Fortunately, it is the game itself that warns you of the availability of a new update, but the ideal if you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber is to configure the PS4 to automatically download updates.
This setting can be activated by moving to the top menu of PS4 and following the path Settings> System> Automatic Downloads, then ticking the preference Application update file.

Create an Epic Games account
One last step separates you from your Fortnite gaming sessions with friends is create an Epic Games account.
This step is mandatory to play Fortnite, for the simple reason that being a I play online only registration is required from the first start. Don't worry, I'll explain immediately what to do to play without wasting too much time with the registration.
After starting Fortnite, by pressing the key X of the controller on the game icon from the PS4 main menu, at the end of loading you are asked to link an account e validate access inserting the username and Password of your Epic Games account.
You can also skip this step and continue with a temporary profile to be changed later by pressing the key square of the controller and then confirming (with the key X).
