Preliminary information
If you wonder how to play Fortnite without Xbox Live Gold, I must first make you aware of some information that will surely be useful to you to achieve your goal.
You must know that Fortnite, the popular multiplayer video game developed by Epic Games, is also available for free for download on the family consoles Xbox and there is no need to purchase a subscription to the program Xbox Live Gold, on the other hand, essential to play paid titles that include an online multiplayer component.
The cost of the service starts at € 6,99 per month and also includes the program Games with Gold, through which it is possible to download free, every month, some video games for Xbox One and Xbox 360 (available as long as the subscription is active). The purchase is possible through the official Xbox website, directly from the console or by purchasing refills on external stores. Get a Microsoft account
Since the Xbox Live Gold membership is no longer required to play Fortnite on Xbox, all you need to play is a Microsoft account, to be connected to your console in order to access all its online services. Once you have created an account, you just have to connect your Xbox to the Internet and access it (I explained how to do it here) and download Fortnite on the console, to start playing. I told you how to download Fortnite in a specific tutorial.
Get a trial Xbox Live Gold membership
If you want to play the paid modes of Fortnite or other paid online games on Xbox, you must necessarily have a subscription Xbox Live Gold. If you have never signed up for a subscription to the Xbox Live Gold service, you can activate a trial period for that subscription on your account for a duration of 2, 3 or 14 days.
At present, however, the only way to do this is to buy a bundle that includes a code to activate the free trial of the Xbox Live Gold subscription, as well as a video game and / or console.
In the main electronics and / or video game stores, but also on Amazon it is easily possible to buy various bundles that include in the price, in addition to a video game and the console, also a subscription to the Xbox Live Gold service with a duration usually of 1, 3 o 12 months.

However, if you already have an active Xbox Live membership, you cannot use the Xbox Live Gold trial membership code to extend the term of your current membership. The code, in fact, can only be added at the end of the pre-existing subscription. Finally, don't forget that at the end of the trial period, to continue playing Fortnite on Xbox, you will need to take out a subscription.
Other solutions to get an Xbox Live Gold membership for free
There are also other solutions that allow you to get a subscription to the service Xbox Live Gold for free or almost. I am referring, for example, to the possibility of participating in the points collection program Microsoft Rewards.
Microsoft Rewards is the Microsoft points collection program that allows you to earn virtual points by leveling up by completing certain specific actions. For example, for every euro that is spent on the Microsoft Store you can get a point if you are al level 1 of the program.
That said, by participating in the virtual activities requested by Microsoft Rewards it is possible to accumulate points in order to purchase the subscription to the service Xbox Live Gold. Speaking of which, you'll be interested to know that the one-month subscription for Xbox Live Gold costs 7.000 points a level 1, While at the level 2 serve 6.800 points.
However, keep in mind that you can also get the necessary points completely free of charge: in the panel Earn moneyin fact, it is possible to obtain points every day by answering questionnaires relating to Microsoft products and services or by answering the proposed surveys.
In this regard, if you intend to succeed and if you want, therefore, to participate in the program in question, connected to the official Microsoft Rewards website, then click on the button Log in located in the upper right corner, so you can log in to your Microsoft account.
Once this is done, click on yours name and then on the voice Awards which is shown to you in the relevant drop-down menu. On the next screen, you will be shown yours level and points that you have accumulated so far. Then refer to the sheet Earn money and to the section named Further activities, to earn points.
