Monkey is a cute neighbor with an athletic personality introduced in Animal Crossing: Wild World.

Etymology

Your Japanese name, Saruo Saruo, may come from the word サル saru which means "monkey".
His English and Italian name, Champ, comes from the English word "Champion" (Champion), which corresponds to his athletic personality.
His name in Spanish, Mico, is a synonym in Spanish for monkey, with Latin roots.
In Catalan, Mico is mono (pronounced micu).

Mico is a brown jumpsuit, who initially wears a Footprint Suit. It has a long curly tail and black dots for eyes. He is very similar in appearance to Estaios, the monkey who runs the train station in the early games of the series, as well as in New Leaf.

Personality

Mico, being an athletic personality, will like to exercise a lot and criticize others for their physical condition. This will make him appear competitive and challenging, he will have a hyperactive and motivated attitude, but he will often act selfish and heavy, despite this he is player friendly. Usually in your conversations you will talk about the sport and your muscles. You will be clumsy and clueless with deep conversations. Animal Crossing: The Movie

Mico also appears in the film, although he has very few lines. He is always exercising, jogging or lifting weights. He always seems to be running around saying "uki uki", which is described as monkey noise. This one steps on but at the same time avoids all the Traps that Yu and Kaiman buried, causing these two to be impressed. When the UFO breaks down and the parts scatter, he finds the original part of the fake UFO, and Ai finds the alien in gear form, causing the Winter Festival Miracle.

Mico's house has a red tile floor and a patio wall. He also has a model train, along with items from the Red Collection. If you have a stereo, it will play Tota-Salsa. Also note the fact that the wallpaper and floor resemble that of the train station (fence wall and brick floor), and the alarm clock is similar to the basic train station clock.

Curiosities

His catchphrase, "Choo CHOO", could be a reference to Animal Crossing for the GameCube, as Mico resembles Estaio.
Like Catiana, he is one of only two characters to appear in Wild World and City Folk, but he does not appear in New Leaf or Happy Home Designer. Because of this, Mico and Catiana are the only ones in the entire series that did not come from the original Animal Crossing to be cut from a installment after appearing in a previous game.
It also looks very similar to Ukikis from the Mario series.
