La Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection o CWF (Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in English) was the name given to the Internet connection service for video games on Nintendo DS and Wii consoles, which connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. It was a free service, although the user had to have an Internet connection to use this service, or connect through a free Wi-Fi access point. It allowed online play, in compatible video games, with users from all over the world, to make cooperative play, competitions, or download promotions. Currently the system used for this function is the Nintendo Network, which became the successor to the CWF.

    Summary

    End of service

In a statement from Nintendo, it was reported that this service would cease to be operational from May 20, 2014. All online functions of the Nintendo DS and Wii video games stopped working from that date, even if they are played on compatible video game consoles. next generation (Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, respectively), although DS Download and local wireless communication between nearby consoles can still be used.

    Animal Crossing video game use

In the game series, Animal Crossing, it began to allow multiple players to connect with each other using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, from Animal Crossing: Wild World.

    Animal Crossing: Wild World

As it was the first game in the Animal Crossing series to go on sale for a console with the possibility of connecting to the Internet (the Nintendo DS), the possibility of visiting other players' villages was incorporated into the game. The ability to move to another Player's Town was also added. For security reasons, Nintendo only allows players to be contacted if they each have the other's friend code in the Friend Pad. To go to visit another town, you need to go to the Gate, and to know the friend code of each one, you have to talk to Vigilio, although you must be connected to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Animal Crossing: City Folk/Let's Go To The City

In this installment of the Animal Crossing series, the online connection was not altered with the news of Animal Crossing: Wild World, but the Wii Speak was implemented, a device that came as a gift with the purchase of the game, which allowed communication by voice with the other player connected. It was also possible to buy it separately, but the price was less profitable.
