A Photo is a special piece of furniture in Animal Crossing: Wild World and New Leaf. The object consists of a picture frame, with a unique image that differs according to the neighbor or the special character to which it belongs.

In Wild World, they are worth 3,200 ADD points each, and the same applies in New Leaf, as long as that villager remains in town. There are 156 neighbor painting furniture in Wild World. They do not appear in the catalog, and they do not have a categorized color or gender despite their colored frames. They all occupy a space in the player's house and cannot be sold. In Animal Crossing, Tom Nook's portrait is the only "photo" that can be obtained, and it can be seen in Hippolyta's house.

Obtaining

The neighbor gives the player photos when the player becomes their best friend, often in lieu of a typical furnishings, wallpaper, or carpet reward for completing favors, or is mailed as is the case in New Leaf. They can also be obtained from special characters when certain objectives are met.

Wild world

When a player has befriended a villager enough, the villager can approach them after showing a surprised or excited emotion, and will want to start a conversation. There is a possibility that one of these conversations is of the villager expressing his gratitude to the player for being his friend, resulting in an image as a reminder of their friendship.

Lazy Neighbors Glitch

A lazy neighbor can miss the player before he receives a photo. There are two indicative scenarios for this problem, and there are no solutions; it is a permanent effect on the player, and to get another shot at a photo, another character must be used to befriend the neighbor again. This bug was fixed, among other lazy neighbor glitches, in more recent copies of Wild World.

If the player has not yet received the lazy neighbor's photo, they can approach the player to ask if their photo has already been framed. Regardless of the player's response, the neighbor will act as if the player owns it.

If the lazy villager approaches the player to ask if someone has given him his photo before, he can give it to them regardless of his answer. If the villager is faulty, he will not give the photo and will proceed to act as if he has already given it in future conversations.

And New Leaf

The obtaining of photos in New Leaf changes from Wild World, and can be received as rewards for satisfying the requests of the neighbors. Writing to the neighbor can also result in getting a photo in the mail as well. When a neighbor moves in, they can also send the player their photo as a souvenir.

There is also an alternative way to receive photos from neighbors. During the Day of the Jokes, Blanca will hide in one of the houses in the town once she speaks from the square, and will disguise herself to pretend to be the neighbor. The player must deduce which of the two neighbors is the real one and who is Blanca. For example, a neighbor (or Blanca) can tell the player their birthday, in which Blanca will always make up a date. If the question regarding the neighbor is answered correctly, the neighbor can get excited and give the player a photo.

Blanca will continue to approach the houses of other neighbors until she has visited each one. If the player answers each neighbor's questions correctly, they may receive Blanca's photo in the mail the next day.
