    Price guide

This guide aims to deal mathematically with how the sale prices of objects are organized in Animal Crossing games, which, especially with the arrival of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, put many players in doubt.

    Summary

    Where do things best sell?

From the first Animal Forest to Animal Crossing: City Folk / Let's Go To The City, for Nintendo Wii, the sale of objects and other things that one wanted to do was the Tom Nook Store.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, on the other hand, there are three ways to sell, or rather: three people to sell to. In order of which pays best to worst, we have:

    • Paca: The Alpaca who, together with Al, is in charge of the Recycling Equipment store.
    • Tendo and Nendo: In your T&N Store you can also sell things, but they pay slightly less than Paca.
    • Conchita: Daughter of the captain and lives on Tortimer Island with her family. He likes to play shop and uses real berries, so you can sell him what you find around the island. However, the price of the items you sell will be extremely low. It is not at all viable to sell high value fish or critters because it will give you almost nothing for them, compared to what Tendo and Nendo or Paca would give you.

    Mathematically

Although it may not seem like it at first glance, the sale and purchase of objects has a mathematical logic that always corresponds.

    • Tom Nook's Store, in versions before Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Recycling Equipment, in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, will pay you exactly the same for any object: a quarter of the original price, that is, the price for the that was bought. In this way, we can know how much they will give us for an object, of which we remember its purchase price, just dividing by 4 and also the inverse: knowing the purchase price by multiplying the sale price by 4.
    • The T&N Store, supposedly the successor to the Nook Stores in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, doesn't pay as well as its predecessor. Tendo and Nendo will give you for each piece of furniture only 80% of what Tom Nook or Paca would pay you, 20% less. Thus, if a Whale Shark of 13.000 Berries (price of Paca) you sell in the T&N Store, they will give you 10.400 Berries, which is a loss of 2.600 Berries. Although it is not an exaggerated loss, it does end up being so if it is sold continuously in this store.
    • Even so, there is an even worse case, and that is that on the island, Conchita will only give you 5% of the money that Paca would give you. This means that the Whale Shark from before is only sold for 650 berries and represents a loss of 12.350 Berries. Really, selling Conchita is only useful with fish, critters or mollusks of little value that are not worth putting in the basket to take them to the town, but from which you still want to make a profit, even if it is minimal.

    Trini's "Friend Price"

In the Handy Sisters' Shop, starting with Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Trini will take care of the hats, umbrellas, accessories and more. Sometimes when the player is interested in an item of clothing, Trini says: I am going to make you a friend's price and I am going to leave it to you at X berries. When you hear that, do not be fooled: the price is the same, it is one more way to try to sell.

    Common questions

    • When Marimar tells me, when I start a tour or when I leave the island that the objects that I carry will stay here and they will give me berries in exchange but that they also pay quite badly, do you mean that they will give me the same berries that they give me? Conchita when I play with her at the stores, how few are there? - Yes
    • I have tried to do a calculation out of curiosity and it gives me 169,5. So in the game, will it cost me 169 berries or 170? - Answer: it will be 170 berries. the x, 5 is always pulled up when approaching.
    • I have found a case in which the percentages are not met and would give me more / less money than it touches. - Answer: that is completely impossible. Check your calculation because you have made a mistake for sure.
