    Skeleton dragons

Skeleton dragons is a common rarity card in Clash Royale that can be obtained from the Spooky Town arena (Arena 12).

    Strategy

    Counterstrategy

    • Skeleton Dragons act more or less like a frail pair of Baby Dragon, dealing area damage and flying at the same speed. However, they are at a disadvantage individually because they have noticeably fewer hit points, a smaller area damage radius, and a slower attack speed than the Baby Dragon.
    • They are especially weak at projecting units that target the air like Mage and Executioner, but Skeleton Dragons can destroy them if surrounded in defense or they will take some chip damage before dying.
    • A Royal Pack will paralyze the Skeleton Dragons, but it won't kill them in one go. Usually this is still valuable against bigger pushes, as the actual Pack drop does considerable damage regardless. If the opponent has other swarm cards that they can quickly support their push with or even a Clone spell, the player may want to save their Delivery for a bit longer.
    • Raiding a Crown Tower with just the Skeletal Dragons is generally not recommended as their low health makes them easy to counter for a positive Elixir trade.
    • Since the Skeleton Dragon comes in pairs, they can generally defeat Minions and Minion Horde while remaining mostly intact. However, if the opponent uses the latter to surround them, Skeleton Dragons will often be overwhelmed.
    • The Musketeer is a neutral exchange of Elixir against the Skeleton Dragons with the help of the Towers of Crowns. He will survive on a bit of health, giving the defender a chance to fight back.
    • The Hunter is a good counter for Skeleton Dragons, firing multiple projectiles. However, this is simply a neutral Elixir exchange and will not survive long enough to deal damage to the tower, so this should be a counter of last resort, as its high explosive damage is best used on target troops of buildings.
    • Skeleton Dragons can be ridden with a well-placed Ice Golem in the center of the arena, fully countering their attack. This will not work if the skeleton dragons are placed in the corners of the arena.
    • Due to their fragile nature, it is recommended to support them on offense or defense with a tank to maximize their damage output, as long as the opponent does not have a spell to immediately eliminate Skeleton Dragons.
    • Fireball is a tough counterattack for skeletal dragons, one shoots them for an equal Elixir exchange and can hit other units in its radius. Poison will kill them if they are exposed to it long enough, but they will generally move out of reach unless distracted.
    • Rocket and Lightning also take them out, but this is usually not practical. Both are negative Elixir exchanges unless there are other units nearby, and the Beam cannot target Dragons in a larger push due to their low health.
    • Combined, Skeleton Dragons deal the same amount of damage per second as a mage of the same level. When combined with their cheaper cost per 1 Elixir and their ability to fly, this skill set makes Skeleton Dragons a viable force for taking out high-value defense targets, especially with another unit bombarding them. Their high damage per second allows them to fulfill multiple roles within the same deck, being aerial attackers that also deal area damage.
