The storage room (secret storeroom in English) is an invisible place that is inside the player's house. It is a storage system where the player can store a large number of objects, which can be accessed from anywhere in the house. In New Horizons, in addition, it replaces the role that even New Leaf played the cabinets.

The storage room was introduced to New Leaf through the Welcome amiibo update on November 2, 2016.

Compared to the 144 holes available in the common cabinets, the storage room will have a storage capacity of 360 spaces, divided into 4 drawers, of which each will have 9 sections (with 12 holes each, as in the cabinets).

To get the storage room in the update you will have to talk to Tom Nook, who will suggest, in addition to the usual extensions of the house, to buy one of his new storage rooms. The only requirement is to finish paying the mortgage you currently have. Tom Nook will then offer you the possibility of buying a storage room for 158.000 berries, being able to enjoy it from the next day, even if you don't pay it instantly (similar to mortgages).

The storage room will be inaccessible while you live in the tent, so you will have to wait for your house to be built. Once this requirement has been fulfilled, you will be able to access it by pressing the right button of the crosshead. In the storage room, to facilitate its use, it is possible to present the objects according to the category as well as to order them according to various criteria. Unlike what happens in Welcome amiibo, the storage room here will expand its storage capacity as we also improve the house:
