The Gathering is the secret ending of Kingdom Hearts II, the same scene that is simply known as "Reunion" in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Sunset Horizons is the accompanying soundtrack piece used during the video. The term "The Gathering" first appeared in the Deep Dive video.

Synopsis

The video begins with the view of a desert. The semi-transparent Ansem Reports appear, scrolling up the screen and one of them is explained specifically, which talks about the Keyblade. The screen shows an armored man, Terra, standing in the middle of the desert, on the remains of a construction with different peaks. He looks to the side and sees another armored person, Aqua, approaching. Terra turns his head and sees a third person, Ventus, also approaching. As Aqua and Ventus approach, Terra walks over to three Keyblades that are stuck in the desert, and the place where she was standing vanishes into thin air as if it never existed. The three Keyblades are Chain of the Realm, Path of Dawn, and Chain of Kingdom D. Terra takes the Chain of Realm, Ventus takes the Path to Dawn, and Aqua chooses the Chain of Realm D.

The screen zooms out to show Terra, Ven, and Aqua standing in the center of a field full of Keyblades. They stop for a moment, before something catches their eye and they look up. A figure, who is too blurry from the heat, walks towards the three warriors, and several words appear briefly on the screen and in this order:

Possible meanings

"Master of the Keyblade" may refer to Master Xehanort, Master Eraqus, or possibly the Mark of Mastery. It could even refer to Aqua, who is named the Master of the Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.
"The Two Stray" probably refers to Master Xehanort and Vanitas or Ventus and Terra. It could also refer to Ven and Aqua, as Terra's body has been seen throughout the saga, but neither of the other two had appeared before.
"Memories of Xehanort" refers to the memories that Xehanort lost when he had amnesia.
"The persecutor" (in English is Chasers ("persecutors"), in plural) could refer to Terra, Aqua and Ven, who persecute Master Xehanort and Vanitas.
"Keyblade War" was an ancient war between Keyblade wielders.
"Born from a dream (Birth by Sleep)" refers to everything "born from a dream." It may refer to the awakening of new masters of the Keyblade.
