Brendan Greene, better known by his nick PlayerUnknown, is a former photographer and web designer, and currently a creative director and video game designer.

Brendan Greene studied Fine Arts in Ireland. As a young man he worked as a DJ with the nickname "Lazy-B". At one point in his life he moved to Brazil with his partner, although after two years of relationship he divorced it. This fact made him take refuge in video games, although as he declared, "he did not enjoy them."

Due to his experience as a web designer, he learned basic notions of programming in a self-taught way. His first notable creation was the mod for ArmA 2 DayZ: Battle Royale, an offshoot of the popular DayZ mod, and inspired by the Battle Royale movie. Due to his own negative experience with multiplayer shooters, he wanted to create his own mod with new and custom elements; like now larger maps difficult to memorize, or placing random items on them.

Once DayZ continued his path as a standalone title, interest in his mod waned, causing him to transition into development for the ARMA 3 title. At that time, Sony Online Entertainment became interested in his work and hired him as a consultant. for the development of H1Z1. Finally, in February 2016 Sony divided the brand into two separate games: the survival mode H1Z1: Just Survive, and the battle royale version H1Z1: King of the Kill; at the same time that his consultation period with Sony expired.

At the same time Greene was leaving Sony Online, Chang-han Kim offered him the opportunity to work on a new concept of battle royale video game. A few weeks later, he became the creative director for Bluehole. Overseeing development from South Korea, it was the first time that a South Korean studio entrusted the task to a foreign person.

Following this, Brendan Greene served as director and designer for the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds title, released in advance on March 23, 2017.
