Have you got a PS4 and lots of games to finish and play online, but all your friends are talking about nothing but Fortnite: A colorful free shooter, chock full of weapons, wacky dances, skins, pickaxes and experienced players. Seeing your friends playing it and hearing their discussions about it convinced you to try Fortnite on your PlayStation 4. Before proceeding, however, being completely "fasting" on this world, you would like to inform yourself a little and understand how to play Fortnite on PS4.
This is how things are, am I right? Then know that you've come to the right place at the right time! In fact, in this guide I will explain how to brilliantly download, install and play Fortnite on PS4 right from your first games. Thanks to the advice and information I will give you, you will find out what you need to play this hugely popular game on your PlayStation and you will know how to move to improve game after game.

Preliminary information
I'll start right away by getting some clarity on what you need to be able to play Fortnite on PS4. You can breathe a sigh of relief, because for this incredibly successful game you will only need your console (with its controller, of course!) And a high-speed Internet connection.
Internet connection is a fundamental requirement, because Fortnite is an online multiplayer title and is available exclusively in digital format, to be downloaded from the PlayStation Store. I remind you that you can check if yours is a high-speed connection by running a speedtest. There are no official requirements to be met, but to play Fortnite decently you must have one good ADSL with low ping times (hence latency).
Once you know the speed of your connection, then you will need to, if you have not already done so, by creating a PSN account.
There is other good news regarding the PS4 version of Fortnite: one is that you don't need to create an Epic Games account (although it will be useful for synchronizing game progress with other platforms), the other is that the PlayStation Plus membership is not mandatory. Yes you read that right! It's possible play Fortnite PS4 without plus, as access to multiplayer is managed by Epic Games' servers and not by Sony's.
Finally, I point out that the purchase of digital content related to Fortnite is not even mandatory but it is just a matter of wanting or not to add objects and extras to the game faster. If, on the other hand, you have already purchased one of these contents mistakenly believing it was the full game, I point out that there is a way to have them refunded, proceeding as I described in this guide.
How to play Fortnite on PS4
Once I have clarified the requirements necessary to download, install and access Fortnite, I just have to explain the mechanisms behind this very famous online game, so as to allow you to immediately enter the game, improve and play Fortnite on PS4 to challenge your friends and all other players participating in the battle!
How to download Fortnite on PS4
The steps required a download and install Fortnite on PS4 they are few and simple. As I have already mentioned, if you have a PSN account, you will automatically have access to the PlayStation Store, identifiable in the blue envelope icon with the PlayStation button symbols in the console main menu.
Once in the PlayStation Store, move up to the button Search e premium pulsating X controller on it. Now write the name "Fortnite" in the search field, in order to view the card Fortnite Battle Royale, and press the button X controller on the button Download displayed on the screen to start downloading the title.
You will likely receive an email from Sony thanking you for your purchase. Don't worry: you haven't actually bought anything at all, it's just a predefined message that doesn't take into account the price (in this case, 0 euros) of the content taken from the PlayStation Store. How the Battle Pass works
I bet that since you've heard of Fortnite, you've heard of a certain one too Pass Battle. But what is it about? What exactly is it for? Nothing complex, don't worry.
The Battle Pass can be considered to all intents and purposes a permit, a pass, which allows access to all Fortnite Premium content. It is, therefore, a very important element to fully appreciate the gaming experience in Fortnite, since thanks to it you can access the full version of the game.
By "full version" I mean the ability to gain access to game challenges, equipment e exclusive skins. Thanks to the pass, it is also possible to unlock rewards and prizes otherwise not obtainable. In fact, based on the levels unlocked, the rewards go up, and it is also possible to earn V-Buck extra (V-Buck is Fortnite's virtual currency), always useful for the purchase of other material in the game.
There are multiple Battle Passes, this is because each has a periodic duration of one season: roughly, one season lasts 70 days, so at the end of this period a new Battle Pass is released with new challenges and content.

Playing Fortnite Battle Royale
I am now in the heart of the Fortnite game by telling you about the Battle Royale mode (or, in El Paese, Battle royal): this is the mode that made Fortnite so famous, the one in which they compete simultaneously and on the same game map up to 100 players.
At the start of the Battle Royale game you are transported by a flying bus to parachute onto the battlefield, along with all the other players.
The goal of this mode is not to get the most kills, but to resist to stay last I respect all the other players. It is a very difficult challenge that requires a constant search for weapons, equipment, upgrades and solid cover, in order to survive the adversity of the game.

Playing Fortnite Save the World
The other most played Fornite mode is called Save the world. Choosing this mode plays one game for one maximum of four people: a big difference compared to the 100 of the Battle Royale!
"Save the World" is set in a game world where there are now few survivors and you are called to fight hordes of aliens. The goal becomes that of save humanity left on Earth and send back where the aliens came from.
Fortnite's "Save the World" mode is also called PvE campaign, to underline its cooperative and non-competitive nature. In fact, players collaborate by building structures and shooting aliens. At the time of writing, this mode is paid and costs 39,99 euros. Not being the final version yet, it is an early access mode, but when it is completed it will become, according to the developers, free.
Finally, I warn you that by completing "Save the World" you will get exclusive content as a reward for your skill in resisting the alien invasion!
Two players play Fortnite PS4
Il multiplayer is the basis of Fortnite. I therefore think it is essential to talk to you about how to play in two on this title.
As one of the most played games ever, you won't struggle to find other players who are passionate and eager to play with you. Another possibility is to play together with your friends you already know.
If that's the case, then I'll tell you immediately which procedure to follow. Proceed by starting the game from the PS4 main menu, wait for the uploads and, when you are in the game menu, go to the toolbar placed at the top.
Then press the button X controller icon Party e scegli l'opzione Create party, then enter a name of your choice. You can also choose whether to make the party private (therefore accessible only by invitation) or public. You can also set the maximum number of players who can take part in it.
Continue now by pressing the button Create Party and wait for the screen with the names of your friends on PSN to open. Now, choose who to invite, using the key X of the pad, and confirm the invitation by pressing the key Invite.
At this point, you will have to wait for your friends to join the party and, when you see their nickname, you can proceed to join the game by choosing the mode Battle Royale o Save the world.

Play Fortnite on PS4 with keyboard
You must know that Fortnite is one of the most competitive games on PlayStation 4. The challenge level is so high that many study the best visual setup and even the ideal play accessories to win over all other players.
Therefore, do not underestimate the possibility of buy mouse and keyboard, not mandatory but supported by Fortnite in the PS4 version. If you want to find out how, you can follow my dedicated guide. The mouse, for example, allows you to aim more precisely and more quickly, while the keyboard can give you more freedom to customize the construction commands (a fundamental aspect for playing Fortnite).

Now that I've told you all the details you need to know to play Fortnite, you are ready to embark on numerous multiplayer matches with your friends and other players online. How to play Fortnite PS4 and Xbox
If you are wondering if there is a way to play Fortnite with your friends they have one Xbox One, well you must know that there is a way and it is an official method.
This method of play is called multiplayer cross-play and indicates that it is possible to play online between players of different platforms. Initially, cross-play was not available for Fortnite but with recent updates this possibility has been added.
If you have updated Fortnite to the latest version, cross-play should already be activated automatically and you should be able to invite your friends who have an Xbox One into the game.
If you want to have fun with your friends who have an Xbox One, you'll have to both sign up for the game with an Epic Games account and add you as friends. You can create this type of account by following my tutorial dedicated to the topic.
How to play Fortnite PS4 and PC
The cross-play I told you about in the previous chapter, or the ability to play multiplayer online even with other players who have other platforms than the PS4, is possible even if friends who play Fortnite do it on PC.
Cross-play is automatic with players you don't know, while the procedure for activating cross-play with your friends who have Fortnite for PC is the same as I suggested for playing with friends on consoles.
