Smug (ボク Boku, or キザ Kiza) (Sometimes called Prideful or Charming) is a personality introduced in New Leaf. They are very polite, kind, and gentleman-like, and will easily get along with other villagers. They seem to be a mix between all personality types and are lively, kind, and positive, but may come off as conceited. In HHD, Smug villagers tend to have a bigger ego and talk about how much they're cool most of the time and cooler than everyone else.
Smug villagers will also occasionally flirt with the player. They wake up at 7AM and sleep at 2AM in New Horizons. So far there have been 35 smug villagers throughout the game, making them the least common male personality. Some villagers in previous Animal Crossing games notably had their personalities changed to smug for New Leaf. O'Hare and Curlos both had the cranky personality until New Leaf, while Huck and Kidd both had the lazy personality until the same game, and Leopold used to have the jock personality until New Leaf.
They generally get along with peppy, snooty, normal, lazy, jock, and other smug villagers, but may conflict with cranky villagers.

- As of New Horizons, there are currently no Alligator, Bull, Cub, Elephant, Kangaroo, Monkey, Octopus, Rhino or Tiger Villagers with the Smug personality.
- This personality type has the second lowest amount of cut villagers from New Horizons, right below Sisterly, which has 0 cut villagers in said game, while Smug only have 1 (Wolf Link).
- In the Italian versions of the games from New Leaf to New Horizons, Smug villagers use some Spanish words, to highlight their gentleman/passionate personality. A similar situation happens with the Normal villagers.
- In New Horizons, the island's first campsite villager will always be a smug. The game won't progress if the player won't invite that smug to the player island so the player can unlock K.K. Slider's concert.
- Some smug villagers wave enthusiastically with both hands. They share this habit with Jock, Peppy, and Sisterly villagers.
