Now that Ghost of Tsushima has revitalized the samurai genre, many are reviewing movies related to the world of the legendary Japanese warriors. Starting, of course, with the master's cinema Kurosawa. But also with curious movies like The last Samurai or ... why not, rare tapes like 47 Ronin, the 2013 movie that featured Keanu Reeves as the lead before becoming John Wick for the first time.
The film presented us with a feudal japan with some fantasy overtones, where the ronin played by Keanu Reeves joined 46 other samurai to face off against Tadanobu Asano and his supernatural minions.
Well, according to Collider, with the genre experiencing a rebirth, Netflix wants to seize the moment to produce a sequel to 47 Ronin that will come from the hand of Ron Yuan, best known for his supporting roles in numerous productions, and who we'll see soon in Mulan.

This sequel to 47 Ronin will feature new elements that will make it different from the original movie. Rather than go back to Japan's feudal past, the film will jump about 300 years into the future. This will cause cyberpunk elements splashing all over the movie. Which is not without a certain irony when you consider Keanu Reeves' connection to Cyberpunk 2077. For now, we don't know if Reeves will want or be able to participate in this sequel to 47 Ronin, which is still in the very early stages of production.
