Apex Legends sweeps: more than 25 million players in its first week. These are your plans for the future

Apex Legends appeared almost out of nowhere. Without a presentation campaign and it came to consoles and PC practically by surprise. However, the return of Vince Zampella has been tremendous: a week later, Respawn's Battle Royale has already gathered 25 million players... and continues to grow.

Through the game's official website, Zampella wanted to reflect on the first seven days of Apex Legends, while announcing short and medium-term plans. Starting off, Valentine's Day will be celebrated at the Apex Games. But the real start of the game will arrive in March.

Another powerful figure: last weekend Apex Legends gathered a maximum of 2 million concurrent players. What does that mean? If we put it in perspective, and according to data provided by Daniel Ahmad:

      • Despite the Fortnite record being 10 million concurrent players after the Mashmellow event, it took 16 weeks to reach 2 million.
      • In the case of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the record registered on Steam (where it was recently recognized as Game of the Year) amounts to 3,2 million concurrent players ... since its premiere.
      • If we compare it with another Electronic Arts game, the maximum number of concurrent players of FIFA 18 - with a World Cup in between - reached the 1,6 million.

A sensational start. What's more, Apex Legends has tripled Fortnite views on Twitch these days. And after that? Zampella tells us about his next plans:

I can't tell you all we have planned, and we're looking at what changes to add based on player feedback and experiences. However, I do want to mention a few things that happen in the coming weeks.

The calendar for the future of Apex Legends looks like this:

      • In the first place, in the competitive aspect, the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge starts today, in which 48 of the biggest streamers on Twitch they will compete live for $ 200.000 in prizes. A first major competition by teams of three divided into two sets, the second taking place on Tuesday 19.
      • At the end of this week will be held the first major event of the game on the occasion of Valentine's Day in which a themed loot will be offered for a limited time.

The future looks good for the new EA and Respawn license. Who said there was no room for a new Battle Royale? We leave you with the video of thanks from the Respawn team to the fans.
