«I am Master Aqua. Give back my friend's heart or you will pay dearly! »- Aqua to Terra-Xehanort
Aqua She was a Chosen of the Keyblade before Sora who first appeared in the secret ending of Kingdom Hearts II known as "The Gathering". The video was continued in the secret ending to Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, titled "Birth by Sleep". In said video, Aqua was shown fighting alongside Terra and Ventus against Master Xehanort and his apprentice, Vanitas and is the middle of the three Keyblade warriors.
While Aqua means "Water" in Latin, Kairi's name means "Sea" in Japanese. The relationship between the two names is not confirmed, despite the similarity of meaning, which also happens between Riku, Terra and Sora and Ventus. The only connection between the two is that Aqua met Kairi in Radiant Garden in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and put a protection spell on her necklace, which Kairi later brought to the Destiny Islands. Kairi, accidentally touching Aqua's Keyblade during this time, also inherited Aqua's Keyblade. The official Japanese website refers to Aqua as "Dancing Waters" (絆 繋 ぐ 舞 水, Kizuna Tsunagu Busui?).

About
Aqua
This beautiful young woman is one of the disciples of Master Eraqus and, finally, the only one who achieves her dream of being named Master of the Keyblade. As his first mission, he is commissioned to deal with the growing threat posed by the appearance of the needy, but he must also watch over the footsteps of his friend Terra. A strong bond of friendship unites her with her companions Terra and Ventus, although there is also a healthy rivalry between them.
Ventus and Terra
This beautiful young woman is one of the disciples of Master Eraqus and, finally, the only one who achieves her dream of being named Master of the Keyblade. A strong bond of friendship unites her with her companions Terra and Ventus, although there is also a healthy rivalry between them.
Personality
It is the median of the three warriors. It seems that she is the most loyal, kind and the one who cares the most of the three. She is always worried about Terra and Ventus, whom she treats like her older (Terra) and younger (Ven) siblings, she shows special concern for Ven being the youngest, but also for Terra. The concern he shows for Terra is somewhat more mature than the one implied towards Ventus, because while Ventus cares like a little brother, Terra cares about his feelings and his way of being. It has been speculated on more than one occasion that she may be in love with Terra, especially after the scene in the final chapter in which she saves him.
Aqua is a loving girl and is the most responsible of the three students, she always tries to protect her friends by playing the role of older sister to Ventus and is Terra's greatest support. Despite her kind, modest and affectionate character, Aqua is a worthy master of the Keyblade, and also shows her serious, determined, brave and serene side when fighting, possessing a very high technique and a superior command of magic in all the aspects. So much so that he was able to defeat Terra-Xehanort in direct combat in Radiant Garden, and being able to survive in the realm of darkness for years.
Appearance
Aqua wears a blue and black high collar top with two belts crossed over her breasts, she wears an insignia where these intersect similar to that of the Master, Ventus and Terra, except that the latter wears it in gold. The shape of the insignia is that of the Nobodies and that of the Heartless reversed.
Aqua wears two white sleeves emerging from two elbow bracelets and black fingerless gloves. He also wears long black knee-high socks or stockings, leaving a small area between them and the pants with bare skin. Like the sleeves of the arms, it has two kinds of white skirts on the sides of the pants that are joined with a white ribbon at the waist. Finally, it can be seen that he wears two silver metallic "hook" shaped boots on each side of his ankles.
Aqua's Armor is silver, black, gray and blue, and includes a crescent-shaped cuirass and a helmet with a dark visor, which, like Terra and Ven, has two extensions on each side of the head. In her case, they are two silver spikes that fall down diagonally. What stands out most about her armor is that Aqua's feminine figure stands out even more highlighting her breasts, her prominent hips and a very thin belly. The coat is a dusty pink color.
Arms
Aqua's Keyblades are usually based on the water element and focused on magical force. For example, Impassive Glare is one of the keyblades with the most magical potential in the game. His Keyblades are a medium size, between Ventus and Terra's weapons. Aqua starts with Downpour, her basic Keyblade, although in Destiny Islands she gets her upgrade: Argavieso. However, before succumbing to the Realm of Darkness, Aqua sacrifices her Keyblade and armor to save Terra, so she begins to use Master's Salvage, Master Eraqus' ancient key. When Aqua summons her Keyblade, light effects and petals appear.

Curiosities
- Chronologically Aqua is the first female character to officially carry a Keyblade.
- The insignia on Aqua's chest looks like a mix of the Heartless and Nobody symbols. The same insignia can be seen on Terra's belt (gold), on Sora's jacket, on Ven's chest, and on Master Eraqus's belt, as well as on the chain of his Keyblade.
- Aqua is voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi, who previously voiced Paine in Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts II.
- In "Magic Wish" Mode, Aqua can control her Keyblade using telekinesis, similar to how Sora did in Master Form and Final Form.
- Although Aqua is not the first playable female character (this honor belongs to Xion and Larxene), she is the first playable female character chronologically.
- The role of Aqua in the Never Land with Peter and the Lost Boys, is that of "Mother" referring to the role that Wendy plays in the Disney movie.
- Aqua's outfit previously only had ties at the back. However, Nomura felt that this might seem too sexy and changed it.
- Although he has an enhancement to his command state Hila Charms called Ethereal March, it is not directly related to magic, but to speed and transport.
- According to a recent interview with Nomura about the upcoming Kingdom Hearts installments, she is the first person Sora rescues and will lead him to Ventus.
- Aqua and Ven maintain a relationship similar to that of brothers, however Kairi and Sora's is more similar to that of a couple, Aqua has an amulet very similar to the one that Kairi gives to Sora, but this is a Blue color.
- When she is about to be attacked in the world of darkness she is saved by Ventus and Terra's keyblades symbolizing that she will never be alone regardless of distances.
- She leaves Terra his armor and his keyblade as a souvenir so that he knows that he is never alone, when the latter was found without memory, they took with him said objects to which he seems to be very attached. In Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix it is seen that Xemnas maintains a special relationship with the armor and often refers to it as a friend, claiming that Terra is part of the incorporeal that forms Xemnas. This proves that Terra's feelings were so powerful that they persisted in the deepest memory of his body, even though it was Xehanort who controlled him.
- The Kingdom Hearts trio are named after the 3 primary elements of nature (common in Japanese culture): Sora means "Sky", Riku means "Earth" and Kairi means "Ocean". This can be related to the main characters in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, where their Latin names are translated: Ventus means "Wind", Terra means "Earth" and Aqua means "Water". This shows us a correlation between the characters and their personalities respectively.
- Originally, Sora was going to be Aqua's successor, but seeing that Terra granted Riku the power he decided not to, so that in the future a fight would not be generated between them. Said honor was accidentally granted to Kairi, when Aqua was protecting her from the Nescient.
- The clothes that Aqua is wearing resemble the clothes of Kuja, a villain from Final Fantasy IX.
