Bad Piggies: The Return is a Finnish-American animated television series produced by Rovio Animation, formerly Warner Bros. (Cartoon Network), a sequel to the Angry Birds Stella Toons series. A preview aired on September 13, 2016 and officially premiered on Cartoon Network.

The first in the series were released to the public at Warner Bros. Animation. The show was created by Eric Guaglione, former member of The Walt Disney Company and creator of Angry Birds Stella Toons and Piggy Tales.

After its premiere on Cartoon Network, it became the most watched debut and the best in the history of the network.

Screen

6 months after the previous series, the golden egg returns from a marine storm and arrives at Golden Island. Background

On March 13, 2016, Eric Guaglione, creator of the series, planned a spin-off series for Angry Birds Stella Toons, in one of its first drafts, together with the creators of the previous series, the first draft Angry Birds was planned. : The Curse of the Golden Egg, this was in which the golden egg falls on Piggy Island, who lives the flock of Red, who as a result of the golden egg, will have to face pigs who try to use the golden egg as deadly weapon. Unfortunately, this has been regarded as "that none of this has anything to do with the previous series, nor references to this series", and the draft had been canceled.  

On April 4 of the same year, the second draft was planned as Guardian Birds, it was the same case of the golden egg, but this time it falls on Bird Island and starring Chuck, who then will have to ally with some friends from the past to protect Bird Island with the golden egg against a bird that tries to dominate the world, however, Eric Guaglione, ordered that they put an anime-like tone to the soundtrack, and for the protagonists, with the touch of anime. But the company did not fully agree with the proposal and again it had to be canceled.  

On June 5, Eric Guaglione traveled to the United States, for the next elaboration for the spin-off series for Warner Bros. During the preparation of the draft, the creator did not come up with any Angry Birds characters for the spin-off, until that 3 days, he had the idea of ​​adding 7 pigs as main protagonists. On August 17, he came up with a name for the series, and this came up with Bad Piggies: The Return, and for the protagonists he had to add Handsome Pig, Artist Pig, Mike, Johnny, Pete, Josh and Bill. , since a spin-off series must star a secondary or antagonistic character, along with a summary similar to the first and second draft. 1 day later, the draft was finally accepted by Warner Bros., and was ready for release.  

It was released by Cartoon Network on September 13 of the same year, 3 years later, on June 14, the rights to the series were sold to Rovio Entertainment, then new characters were added to the series.

Critical response

Bad Piggies: The Return has received many positive reviews from critics.

Jarno Väkeväinen, founder of Rovio Animation, gave the first episode a B +, and said that the series has something that teenagers and children could be very entertained with, noting that the series follows current trends and news in western and eastern animation. Promotion and launch

The series title sequence has been promoted at Comic-Con 2017 a year after its premiere. The first episode premiered on Cartoon Network on September 13, 2016, positive reactions on social media around the world prompted Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network to order a second season on November 29, 2016. The third season was ordered next. On September 19, 2018 by Rovio Animation, on July 30, 2019 the end of the third season was announced with the premiere of the last 5 episodes.

On August 30, 2019, Rovio Animation announced a fourth season for October 1 of the same year. On October 1 of the same year, the first episode of the fourth season was released followed by a second part as The Battle for Golden Island. As a consequence of the great success of the series, it was launched on Cartoon Network, Disney XD, Disney Channel, Boomerang and Nickelodeon, also on video streaming subscription services such as Netflix, Hulu and Disney +.

On November 22, 2019, a special with the name 100 Episodes for the official channel of the Angry Birds that deals with its background and the plot of the series. On February 02, 2020, Rovio Animation confirmed that the fifth season will be its last through a preview.
