    Barbarians

Barbarians is a common rarity card in Clash Royale that can be obtained from the Barbarian Coliseum arena (Arena 3).

    Strategy

    • Barbarians are a great option to use against enemy troops and Crown Towers, as they have a moderate amount of hit points and damage, and are perfect for attacks with other tanks.
    • They are excellent for taking out a small number of enemy troops, such as the Prince or the Musketeer from the player's side. The 5 Barbarians will quickly eliminate the unit if they fall directly on it, surrounding it.
    • A successful defense with the Barbarians will also constitute a powerful counterattack; tank for barbarians for a menacing push or use them to tank for a glass cannon, which also results in a menacing attack.
    • They can also defeat a splash unit if they are placed directly on top of the unit, but failing to surround the unit will cause them to take more damage than necessary. Note that this is not effective against a charged Dark Prince, Valkyrie, or a jumping Mega Knight, as they have a 360 ° splash.
    • If combined with Fury they can cause severe damage to a Tower of Crowns, as it is difficult to stop because Fury increases movement and attack speed. Together they already have great damage and can do short work on a Tower before being stopped by the opponent.
    • It is a very bad idea to ignore them, as they will be able to destroy a Tower of Crowns themselves.
    • They are one of the best troops to eliminate enemy tanks due to their number (5 of them), high combined damage and ability to resist most spells. Support troops will have trouble defeating them due to their hit points. If the combo is an area damage ground troop + ground melee tank, wait for the troops to cross the river. As soon as they cross, immediately deploy them over the support troop. They will quickly surround and destroy it before continuing to take out the now unsupported tank. This can result in a large positive Elixir trade. However, if there are more than one attack unit, they will likely be eliminated immediately. Note that this is ineffective against PEKKA almost always, as you can beat them in one hit even 2 levels apart.

    Counterstrategy

    • Although they are very effective against single-target troops like the Prince, they are susceptible to spells and troops that deal area damage due to their relatively low movement speed. Their relatively low attack speed also leaves them vulnerable to swarms like the Skeleton Army.
    • They can be effectively countered by most area attack troops, such as the Bomber and the Mage. However, be sure to place them at a distance so that they are not immediately destroyed. However, you must be careful as the opponent can use a Tornado or Ice to immobilize or destroy the troop with area damage, allowing them to devastate the Tower of Crowns. Fire Spirits can stop them and they are also very profitable. Note that Fire Spirits alone will generally not be able to completely eliminate an entire group of Barbarians. Finish them off with other troops or let the Tower of Crowns finish them off.
    • A very effective card is the Fireball; the damage and radius of the spell are more than enough to completely defeat them. However, keep in mind that a Fireball 1 level lower will not completely defeat them. Poison can also be effective. Their damage will eventually eliminate them and support troops as well. However, just like with the Fireball, it won't defeat them if it's 1 level lower. If they survive, try to support them with a tank in front to take advantage of them.
    • Deploying them on the bridge is useless and is essentially a waste of five Elixir unless the opponent is low on Elixir simply due to the numerous counterattacks they have and their slow movement speed. Always be prepared to deploy a support card along with them, such as a tank, spell, or "glass cannon" to get the most out of them.
