Curiosities
- The Skeleton Barrel was playable in the Duplicate Deck Challenge on October 17, 2017, prior to its release date, as an unintended bug. Supercell fixed this problem with a maintenance outage.
- The Skeleton Barrel is one of 14 cards associated with Skeletons, including the Bomber, Skeleton Army, Witch, Tombstone, Bomb Tower, Giant Skeleton, Bombastic Balloon, Guards, Graveyard, Wall Breakers, Skeleton Dragons, and Skeletons.
- The Skeleton Barrel has the same deployment sound as the Bombastic Globe.
- The Skeleton Barrel and the Noble Giant are the only Common Cards that only target Structures.

- The visual appearance of the Skeleton Barrel resembles the Clash of Clans Air Bombs. However, they work very differently. The Barrel itself is styled very similar to the level 6 and 7 Bombastic Balloons from Clash of Clans.
- The Skeleton Barrel could be inspired by the Skeletal Globe from Clash of Clans, which also damages and summons skeletons when destroyed. Both are called "Skeleton Globe" if the language is set to Chinese.
- The deadly damage of the Skeleton Barrel is the same as the hit points of a Spear Goblin of the same level.
- The Skeleton Barrel is one of nine troop cards that inspired a troop in Clash of Clans, along with the Miner, Baby Dragon, Ice Mage, Bomber, Night Witch, Giant Skeleton, Battle Ram, and Ice Golem.
- The Skeleton Barrel is one of the 3 cards related to the barrels, along with the Goblin Barrel and the Barbarian Barrel, however it is a troop, unlike the other two, which are spells; it is also a common card, the other two are epic cards.
