The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 can get all kinds of adjectives, but after learning about the recent financial report from CD Projekt Red, a new qualifier joins the list: lucrative ... a lot.
You already know how the Cyberpunk 2077 launch, but there was still no first preview of what this premiere had meant for the coffers of CD Projekt Red. Well, it has not been so disastrous at the monetary level and that is, the earnings of the Polish company in 2020 have exceeded all expectations.
As reported by Games Industry, CD Projekt Red's early earnings and benefits in 2020 have surpassed figures far beyond its tremendous success in 2015 with the release of the award-winning The Witcher 3. The Cyberpunk 2077 hype was anticipating a great year for Poles, financially at least, but once again the forecasts have fallen short.
CD Projekt generated PLN 2140 billion (approximately € 470 million) in consolidated sales revenue. This is a figure four times higher than in 2019 and more than two times higher than the company's record registered in 2015 with the premiere of The Witcher 3: 798 million PLN (175 million euros).

In terms of net benefits, the company recorded PLN 1150 billion (€ 252 million), which triples the record of that same 2015, which was set at 342 million PLN (75 million euros). Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, known for his reporting within the industry, exemplified this data very well with a simple graph, which puts Cyberpunk 2077 in perspective.
CD Projekt released its estimated earnings for 2020 today.
It is currently projecting revenues of 2139 million PLN and net profit of 1154 million PLN.

However, despite those gains, now It is time to wonder if CD Projekt Red will have an equally positive 2021. The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 may have been an economic bombshell, but it has also generated a lot of bad press for the studio and earned backlash from the consumer. Mass returns, withdrawal from the PlayStation Store and all kinds of problems. Will this affect sales in 2021? Of course, it has already been communicated that CD Projekt will continue to support Cyberpunk 2077 for the next few years.
