El Chronometer is a tool introduced in Animal Crossing: Wild World and appears in all subsequent games. Allows the player to set a timer for 3, 5, 10 and 15 minutes. The stopwatch comes in one form and, unlike most tools, there are no other variations available.

Usage is entirely up to the Player. The stopwatch can be set to program the time in 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes. When in use in City Folk, the timer will note how many Fish or Bugs have been caught during the time it was activated, and will display the total when finished. This includes the amount of Fish and Bugs caught by other players visiting the Town via Wi-Fi connection, being most useful during online play, where it can be used to organize competitions between friends and visitors. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, only the player who activates the timer can control it, in City Folk, any player has the ability to stop the timer and the alarm will sound even if the timer is buried in the ground. In both games, Figaro will ask players to turn off their timers before the Totakeke show begins. In New Leaf, the number of Underwater Creatures that have been captured, as well as Fish and Bugs, will also be counted.
