Dōbutsu no Morie + (ど う ぶ つ の 森), translated as Animal Forest e +, is the successor to Dōbutsu no Mori +, which means that it is a "brother" of Animal Crossing: Population: on the rise! It has new features, most of which are shared with Animal Crossing (GameCube). As the international version of Animal Forest e + had been so successful, they made a similar version for Japan, but with a few more novelties, and since there was already AF +, they named it AFe +. This game did not come out of Japan like Animal Forest.
This game is the Japanese successor to Animal Crossing: Population - on the rise!
During the process of localizing the translation of Dobutsu no Mori abroad, that is, Animal Crossing for Nintendo GameCube, there were many changes incorporated into Animal Crossing, which not only involved in the translation from Japanese to English, but also in the replacement of many cultural references, as well as new content, including holidays, new objects and new or altered events. After the success of Animal Crossing in Japan, they were so impressed with the results of the translation done by Nintendo that the NOA version was translated back to Japan and released as Dobutsu no Mori e-Plus. Dobutsu no Mori e-Plus was released in Japan on June 27, 2003, and sold 91.658 copies during its first week of sale.
