Dark spawn

Dark spawn (Dark hunter Ankoku no Hantā?), Conocido popularmente como "Red eyes"It is a creature type that can only be found as the final boss of the secret chapter of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix and therefore can only be faced with Aqua. It appears to be an exceptionally strong Heartless type, and may be a type of creature of power superior to these, since it only appears in the most remote place of the Kingdom of the Darkness.

Design

Darkspawn is a huge creature that resembles Shadow Thorns. It has a black and dark purple body, with dark magenta spikes running down its back as well as a "mane" of dark magenta tentacles around its head. Its tail has a dark magenta tip and it sports four purple claws on each of its four legs. The most distinctive feature of Ojos Rojos is its yellow eyes, which sometimes glow red. Red Eyes also has a toothed mouth, blue markings on its face and body, and chains around its front legs. Its body is quite long and slender, and despite its enormous size, this Heartless moves quite fast.

This Heartless is capable of camouflaging itself in the dark, hiding most of its body except for its eyes that glow red. The Heartless's eyes seem to be able to see from afar what the Heartless is looking at, and give things a very faint reddish hue. Bright red lights are present around the sides of the field from which the Heartless looks out. The Heartless often creates puzzling things about itself as it moves, including red, green, and purple versions of itself.

History

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

After being sealed in the Realm of Darkness, Aqua travels the Realm of Darkness. When he reaches the deepest fringes of this world two glowing red eyes appear in the dark, watching over Aqua. Aqua, realizing that those eyes are watching her, gets on her guard and, a creature covered in shadows appears.

Aqua understands that this being is not a Nescient, like the other creatures that have attacked her on her way, but apparently another type of creature much more powerful and fearsome resident of the Kingdom of Darkness. After an intense fight, Aqua is the winner. However, the creature is not seen to fade into the shadows again. After this, Aqua, reaches the edge of the forest of the Kingdom of Darkness, and before her stands a gigantic castle, Aqua, looks at the castle with concern, and the scene finally ends.

Strategy

Attacks

• Wild Claws: The creature performs quick blows with its claws.
• Tail Whip: The Heartless turns around, hitting Aqua with its tail.
• Circular saw: Eyes performs a damaging somersault in the air.
• Fire load: The Heartless emerges from the shadows and charges at Aqua, leaving a trail of flames in its wake.
• Shadow Bomb: Fires orbs of dark energy that, after a few seconds of delay, expand into damaging force fields.
• Megafulgor: Red Eyes shoots a large ball of fire.
• Illusory Walk: The creature spins at blazing high speed around the periphery of the battlefield, leaving four of its tracks to charge at Aqua before leaping into the center of the area creating a damaging shock wave.
• Illusory Slash: Each one that the creature leaves attacks with its claws.

Manga and novels

• At the beginning of the Birth by Sleep novels, it is commented that Vanitas was originally an anonymous being, very similar to Sora physically but made of darkness and with red eyes.

Curiosities

• Darkspawn looks a lot like the Bahamut creature from the Final Fantasy games.
• He is very similar to the Shadowthorn Heartless in his second form, plus they both carry chains.
