Fortnite, the most popular game in the world at the moment, will add in its next update a performance mode, which prioritizes increasing FPS on PC. This new setting is included in the update of the Tuesday December 15, and allows you to reduce the quality of the graphics to release CPU and GPU load and make the game much smoother.
This mode will be available for most systems, in Battle Royale and Creative modes, and in addition to being able to play with a much greater fluidity, it will allow free up hard drive space when erasing the textures in high resolution.
Performance mode will be in the game's graphics settings menu. If you have older hardware you will be prompted to try this mode as the recommended way to use the game.
For, erase high definition textures If you decide to use this mode you will have to do it from the Epic Games platform. Look for options and uncheck the box for Use High Quality Textures. Epic Games has put out some examples of how it will improve performance on lower spec equipment. For example, on an AMD A10-5745M APU @ 2,1 GHz CPU, with 6 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon (TM) HD 8610G, goes from 18 fps to 45 fps.
In another case, with a CPU CPU: Intel i5-8265U @ 1,60 GHz, an 8GB RAM and Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU, it passes from 24 fps to 61 fps.
