Etymology
- His English name, Wendell, may be derived from the name Wendall which means "wanderer".
- Its Spanish name, Da Morsi, derives from the Spanish "morsa"
- Its French name, Morsicus, derives from the French word "Morse" which means "walrus".
Appearance
It is a blue walrus with two large white tusks. He wears a T-shirt that does not cover his large round stomach, which has a small cross for a navel. He always carries a canvas and a traveler's backpack with him.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, dress up in light tan pajamas.
Personality
Da Morsi is always hungry. He's a bit of a selfish traveling walrus. He will ask for food as soon as you speak, and you have the option of giving him something other than food. If you do, it will keep it even if it is useless (although in Animal Crossing Wii it will give it back to you). On the contrary, he will be good to you if you are good to him.
However, in Animal Crossing New Leaf, you will find him in some dreams to give you the designs of the residents of that town.
Appearances
Animal Crossing
In Animal Crossing, Da Morsi has a role as a wallpaper seller. It will appear in the Player's Village on Saturday or Sunday, but has also been known to appear on other days. It appears at a random time of day. He will tell the player that he is hungry by talking to him, and he will ask for food. He will eat anything, including fruit, fish, and turnips. It will give the player a wallpaper for free as a reward during the weekend and will sell it to the player during the weekdays. He disappears after a while. In the original Dōbutsu no Mori, Da Morsi only eats fish.
Animal Crossing: Wild World
In Wild World, Da Morsi's role is different from Animal Crossing. This time, he delivers unique designs. By giving him something to eat when he visits the village, he gives it a design that cannot be obtained anywhere else. He will eat fruit and turnips, as well as fish. By giving any type of fruit, you will obtain a design already obtained, with the exception of coconuts, which produce a different design. It no longer appears on Sundays or Saturdays. Instead, it appears from 6:00 to 00:00 on a random weekday (excluding the day Slyly arrives). Da Morsi is the first step in the golden ax trade event.
A complete list of their designs can be found here.
Animal Crossing: City Folk/Let's Go To The City
In City Folk, Da Morsi has the same role as in Wild World, except for the Golden Ax and Ladino event (who now has a shop of his own in the City).
By enabling WiiConnect24, Da Morsi can distribute designs on behalf of Nintendo, saying something like "I made this new design and I was wondering what you would think ...". Since the Wii Wi-fi service is currently out of order, this is possible without the use of hacking.
A complete list of their designs can be found here.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
In New Leaf, Da Morsi only appears in the dreams of other peoples using the Dream House. Their services in New Leaf are the ability to copy other designs that are used in other players' towns. It only appears if the author of the town allows their designs to be copied in their dream town.
Other appearances

Then Carturo at the door who hands him a letter, when Ai turns and realizes that Da Morsi has already left the house.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Da Morsi appears as a trophy that is obtained randomly throughout the game. Your information is:
A famous painter who walks around with a big backpack on his back. When he arrives in town he is hungry and dying. You may think it is a good idea to give him something to eat, but it is not easy to find out what he really wants. Of course, do not think that he is going to reject your food: Da Morsi has such a serve that he gobbles up everything they give him.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS y Wii U
Da Morsi appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U as an exclusive trophy for the Wii U version. The trophy description is as follows,
This traveling artist has a huge appetite. As it is a walrus, one would expect it to only eat fish, but it also gobbles up fruits, nuts ... and whatever else it takes, although the "marine diet" is its favorite. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf you will only see him when you visit the Dream House ... Thank goodness he is not so hungry in his dreams!
Curiosities
- His extreme hunger may be a reference to the stereotypical phrase "starving artist", since he is both.
- In Wild World, Da Morsi comes from Tuscany. When one of his designs is shown at the Handy Sisters, it will say Da Morsi from Tuscany. Tuscany is a region in central Italy.
- In City Folk, if the player puts Da Morsi's designs on display at the Handy Sisters or asks to receive one of them, Pili says, "Da Morsi from Over there."
- In City Folk, if the player gives a Coelacanth to Da Morsi, he will not take it and say "Oh! My mother told me not to eat them, so I will have to return it." Then he will complain that he is hungry.
- Share your birthday with Arsenio.
- In New Leaf, he has the same voice as Elio.
