Cross-play is a reality. Fortnite took the first step and more and more games are pointing in that direction, which is very positive since we can enjoy our games with whoever we want regardless of the game system. However, we run into a problem: communication. Fortunately, for those cases we have Discord.

Discord serves as meeting point for millions of players every day. From there it is possible to find teams, face challenges or simply share impressions through written chat and, of course, voice chat. In fact, it is no coincidence that the official Switch app has become the alternative when it comes to communicating.

How to Connect Discord to Xbox One and PS4 from PC

Currently, the process for combining Discord's voice chat services and current desktops is quite cumbersome. But of course It is not impossible.

There are several processes, such as associating the output of the small jack of the DualShock 4 to the PC and configuring everything from there. It is a solution, but that does not solve our problem.

Our idea is that the sound of the game, voice chat and Discord is integrated into one, and the most efficient system is make use of an audio mixer or similar. A much more complicated process, of course, although it may be worth it. Especially when We leave you all the steps to follow at hand.

The essential: What is an audio mixer? In essence, it is a device that, as the name suggests, controls game audio and voice. There are different prices and according to our budget we can enjoy Dolby 7.1 surround sound processing.

The example that you will see below makes use of a Astro Gaming Mixamp Pro Tr which is valued at about 110 euros, although there are cheaper alternatives and others that will delight foodies of sound.

The general idea is to move the audio from the console that would initially go to our headphones to a Mixamp (an audio mixer) configuring our system and Discord preferences in the most effective way.

Don't worry, we guide you step by step:

    1. We will use headphones that support USB connection and have an optical cable. On the other hand, we will need a Mixamp -or something similar- to help us combine the audio from the console and the PC.
    2. We connect the optical cable between the Mixamp and our console.
    3. From there, we go to the Settings menu, we go to the Sound tab depending on the system we use and, finally, to the audio output settings
    4. We change the main output port for the digital output port in the Discord audio settings (that is, we choose the optical cable)
    5. We associate our mixer via USB (or whatever connector we use) with the PC, making sure previously that the Mixamp is in PC mode.
    6. From the Discord app, back on our PC, we adjust the voice input tab from settings so that it detects the Mixamp.
    7. To finish and get all the sound, we associate a 3.5 mm jack (audio connector) to the PC. The objective is the sound that would go to the PC speakers also goes to the mixamp.
    8. We return for the last time to the Voice Configuration of the Discord settings and change the output device to the speakers of our PC.

From there, and if we have followed all the steps,  we will have all the sound from the console and voice chat associated with our Discord, being able to communicate with our contacts on PS4 or Xbox One.

Once again, and illustratively, we leave you the video of the complete process.
