General aspect

The gyroids appear to be wooden tubes with holes, which, similar to what would be the neighboring Cocoloca, make sounds. This means that each type of gyroid has its eyes and mouth in a different way. The change in size, thickness of the wood, type of wood (more important than some believe) and width also affects the sound considerably. Even among members of the same family they have slightly different traits to achieve so that, although the sound is similar, a different frequency and a higher or lower sound is achieved. Gyroids surely have a special varnish that gives protection against scratches and loudness.

They are based on the Haniwa terracotta figures [1], used in the XNUMXth century BC in Japan. These clay figurines were used for rituals and funerals. They were buried next to the dead to accompany them in their next life: figures of horses, clothing, weapons, and even human figures were buried. This theory was confirmed thanks to the Japanese version of Animal Crossing: City FolkLet's Go to the City, where the Giroide (auction house) was called Haniwa. That is why the gyroids appear underground, although it is a bit daunting.

The body of the gyroids is divided into four parts:

• The body and the face, where the air enters, brushing against the walls and bouncing from top to bottom creating the sound.

• Arms. They gain movement when the gyroid starts, which makes a more direct or longer sound.

• The "skirt". Below the base there is a skirt-shaped irregularity (in some cases belt) in the gyroids. It is unknown what it is for, but in some cases, it works very well as a decorative element.

The setback is a musical ability that gyroids can do, for example Mega Bomboids and Great Bongoids. If two gyroids sound at the same time, the sound is louder, but if the setback is used they complement each other and make it sound as one but faster.
