Halloween town (Halloween Town; ハロウィンタウン Harowin Taun?) Is a world that appears in several games in the series. It is based on the classic Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas, made with stop-motion animation.

Halloween City is a world that is united with others. The only one of these worlds that can be visited is the City of Christmas, accessible through the Christmas gate in the Dark Forest. In this forest there are more entrances to other "parallel" worlds of other festivals, but their doors are closed.

It is inhabited by ghosts, demons, witches and other monsters.

The ruler of this world is the Mayor, although even he himself gives greater importance to Jack Skeleton. The fact that everyone adores him is because he is the king of Halloween, the most important holiday in this city. The inhabitants of this world do not have hearts, so the Heartless are totally harmless here, unless someone with a heart enters.

World Configuration

Being set on Halloween, the whole town has a gloomy look. In Kingdom Hearts, the city is under constant night, although in the movie, it is seen that there is also day, with a pumpkin-shaped sun. In the game, the light comes from a huge full moon, and all the buildings in the city are gothic and twisted.

Guillotine Square is the center of the city, around it are the most important buildings such as the Town Hall, Jack's House and Dr. Finkelstein's Laboratory. This square gets its name from a huge guillotine that is in it. There is also a fountain in the shape of a monster, and with bright green water. In Kingdom Hearts II, the square is somewhat different, as the guillotine blade falls as you approach, the fountain spits out jets of water as you approach, the doors of Jack's house (behind which Christmas presents also appear) hit you and the sewer cracks ooze a green poisonous gas if you walk over them, slightly damaging Sora and company. In addition, from the square you can get to the Street to the Plaza that serves to enter the city (this only appears in Kingdom Hearts).

Nearby is the Graveyard, filled with ghoulish stone statues and tombstones that fall on you in Kingdom Hearts II as you approach. The Graveyard leads to various sites in both games. In both it leads to the Hill of the Moon, where the hill gives it its name, since you can see the moon with great clarity from it. The terrain is grayish in color, and the hill has a peculiar spiral shape, and in its front it is surrounded by Halloween pumpkins. In Kingdom Hearts, the hill was deployed like in the movie to be able to pass to another area, Oogie's Mansion.

This mansion was much simpler in the movie, since in the game it has been completely transformed and gotten bigger and twisted. In it lived Lock, Shock and Barrel, henchmen of Oogie Boogie. In a hidden entrance at its base you could enter Oogie's torture room, set in board games, with a huge roulette wheel in the center, explosive dice or moving blades. In the roots of the tree where the house is built you can find the Lock, Shock and Barrel Bathtub, which helps you climb up to the mansion in case you have fallen. This area disappears after the second battle against Oogie Boogie in Kingdom Hearts.

In Kingdom Hearts II, the graveyard also leads to the Dark Forest, full of tall and thin trees, dry and without any leaves, and inside, there is a small clearing surrounded by 7 trees with carved doors (to access the city of each holiday) with the reasons for their respective festivities: Christmas (a decorated fir tree), Easter (a decorated egg), Saint Patrick (a four-leaf clover), Thanksgiving (a turkey), July 4 (a firecracker) and Valentine (a heart). Also, in the beginning of the movie Nightmare Before Christmas, a clearing is observed in a similar forest, but with the Halloween door (Halloween pumpkin), this means that in "the real world" a clearing opened with the doors of all the festivities, and in the cities of all the holidays he also opened a clearing with the doors, except the one of his party (that's why in Halloween Town there is no door with a pumpkin), and the way to go to the real world from the holiday cities it would be through the sky, that's why Santa Claus and Jack use a flying sleigh to distribute the gifts.

In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, there are pumpkins throughout this world that, when hit, activate a 5-second countdown and then explode (useful for damaging the Heartless). As you carry out missions, bones also appear scattered around the scenarios to give them to Zero (Jack's ghost dog) and to search for Sincorazón hidden (in balloons, on tombstones, in statues, etc.) and another type of pumpkin also appears- bomb, this time blue and of the Ice element.

Curiosities

In the first Kingdom Hearts, the appearance of some of the world's heartless changes. For example, the White Mushrooms have stitches on their head.
In the first Kingdom Hearts (in the Playstation 2 version) there is a red trio mark that can be lost, this trio mark must be collected in due course because when we defeat Oogie Boogie it will be impossible to collect it and complete Pepito's Diary 100%, later this item was moved around in the Final Mix version, which can be activated once you've fought Oogie Boogie.
