    Ice mage

Ice mage is a Clash Royale legendary rarity card that can be obtained from the Ice Peak arena (Arena 8).

    Strategy

    • The Ice Mage is best used defensively and then translates into a counterattack as a support troop. Take full advantage of its slowing effect, as it does very little damage.
    • Despite dealing low area damage, the ice mage is capable of eliminating fragile swarms.
    • The Ice Mage is a powerful asset for both offense and defense, significantly reducing enemy troops' damage per second. The slow effect is most noticeable against units with fast attack rates, such as Inferno Tower and Infernal Dragon. Under the slow effect, both take approximately 1 extra second to reach maximum damage.
    • The Tornado is an iconic and effective synergy with the Ice Wizard. The Tornado can displace units and group them together, so that the Ice Mage's splash attack damages and slows an entire group of enemies, helping the player's Crown Towers and units eliminate the attack.
    • A very powerful but risky defensive combo is the Ice Mage and Mage combo, given the condition that the opponent's attack lacks ranged units. The Ice Mage will slow enemies, grouping them together so that the Mage deals large amounts of area damage. If possible, the two should be placed some distance apart to mitigate the potential value of the opponent's spell, as spells like Poison can completely eliminate the pair for a positive Elixir exchange.
    • A good position for an ice mage is in the middle of the defender's side of the arena, as it maximizes the distance that melee troops must travel. Any ranged melee troopers that reach the Ice Wizard will be attacked by the defender's other Crown Tower. For example, an Ice Mage in this position can counter an entire squad of Barbarians and survive with a hint of health.

    Counterstrategy:

    • The Ice Mage will only deal a few hundred damage to a Tower of Crowns, which the opponent can easily avoid with a good trade. The player must consider the amount of defensive prowess his Ice Mage gained; Trying to support an ice mage when it hasn't helped them gain an elixir advantage can put the player in a bad position.
    • Without the help of a Crown Tower, he will be overwhelmed as his splash radius is negligible.
