Summary
Worlds
In coded, Sora progresses through a series of levels that are virtual representations of the worlds contained in the digitized version of Jiminy's Diary, which are from Kingdom Hearts and are arranged according to the order in which he visited them. These virtual worlds are based on various locations from many Disney animated films, as well as worlds created for the game: Destiny Islands, the first world, created for Kingdom Hearts; City of Paso, also created for Kingdom Hearts; Wonderland, from the movie "Alice in Wonderland"; Olympus Coliseum, from the movie "Hercules" or Agrabah from the movie "Aladdin".
History
The game takes place after the events of Kingdom Hearts II and follows the story of Jiminy Cricket, King Mickey, Donald and Goofy at Disney Castle. Pepito was organizing the journal entries on his travels with Sora and his friends. But Pepito Grillo's curiosity about the phrase "Thank Naminé" and the search for its meaning caused Pepito Grillo to find something that he did not write: "We must go back to ease his pain." To investigate this message, King Mickey digitizes the contents of the diary and enters the virtualized worlds to investigate, awakening a virtual Sora and Islands of Destiny to learn the meaning of them (reference to the phrase "They must be released from their torment ", found in Pepito's diary).
As the Digital Sora awakens in the Destiny Islands he encounters numerous "bugs" (bugs), which take the form of blocks of red and black, spanning the entire world. As he investigates these blocks, he finds a strange figure creates a keyhole, and inside it is a giant Heartless, defeating it and then destroying all the black blocks on the island. However, Sora is trapped in darkness, which sends him to Pass City, who remembers the events of the first game. He also travels through numerous worlds searching for the "locks" that lead to the heart of the worlds, defeating the Heartless of the worlds (with the occasional help of the mysterious hooded man) to return the worlds to their normal state. In Wonderland, the hooded man suddenly appears in front of the Digital Sora, who is chasing him on Mickey's orders.
Meanwhile, at Disney Castle, they begin to appear Heartless inside, but are quickly destroyed by King Mickey. Quite simply, the castle doors open and to the surprise of the King and his friends, the virtual Sora appears. The hooded man reappears in front of them, reveals that they are no longer in the "real" world but also within the diary itself, and also the presence of the Heartless. The hooded man also revealed to them that the diary is taking the form of Riku, who then sends Sora on a journey to discover his true identity. Also, Pete from the real world appears in the digital world, as well as Maleficent, who destroys the Keyblade of the Digital Sora and orders the Heartless to attack him.
Gameplay
Coded is a puzzle game with action elements. The action situations are similar to those of the previous games in the series and it has a similar basic interface. Coded also includes items such as minigames and platformers, much like Kingdom Hearts II. The game presents a combination of graphics, with the landscapes in 3D and the characters in 2 dimensions (2D). The initial trailer showed its protagonist, Sora, in dungeons with floating red and black blocks. Battles feature a "debugging" mode by removing blocks, in order to advance towards enemies. Blocks are also used to solve puzzles or reach high surfaces.
