Kingdom Hearts V CAST is a Kingdom Hearts game that was developed exclusively for V CAST, Verizon Wireless' broadband service. It was released on October 1, 2004 in Japan and on February 4, 2005 in the United States. It was developed by Superscape and published by Disney Interactive Media Group (formerly known as Walt Disney Internet Group), so this installment of the series is the first to be made by a company other than Jupiter and Square Enix. As it is not chronologically related or located in the main story of Kingdom Hearts, it is considered a game non-canonical.

History
Sora, Donald, Goofy and Jiminy Cricket are traveling through the universe in the Gumi Ship when they decide to go to sleep; these put the Gumi Ship on automatic pilot and while they sleep they are swallowed by a strange black creature, taking them to an unknown destination. When Sora wakes up, he finds himself on a desert island called Swordman Island. After going around many times he realizes that his friends are not there, so the main objective of the game is to leave the island and find them visiting new worlds. The only thing Sora finds on Swordman Island is a chattering parrot (Swordman Parrot) so he builds a raft with its directions and leaves the island in search of his companions.
The history of Kingdom Hearts V CAST, in addition to well-known characters, settings, etc., has nothing to do with the original Kingdom Hearts plot, and is almost completely irrelevant to the series due to its non-canonical plot. Kingdom Hearts V CAST also seems to have no other goal than to find Donald, Goofy, and Jiminy Cricket. On the other hand, it was never said directly when the events of Kingdom Hearts V CAST happened within the plot of Kingdom Hearts, since it was not given much importance by going quite unnoticed, although there are many theories that surround it.
The first - and most important - is that this game could have taken place in or during Kingdom Hearts where the four of them are traveling in the Gumi Ship. It could also have happened when they were traveling between the different worlds, namely Hollow Bastion and the previous worlds due to the scenes showing Maleficent looking at Sora through a magical cauldron of misty green water. These scenes suggest that Maleficent is trying to stop Sora in a reverie state, thus preventing him from reaching her lair.
Gameplay
Kingdom Hearts V CAST takes back the gameplay elements that appear in the Kingdom Hearts originals, although it was modified to be compatible with mobile phones. Sora moves similar to a tank, with one button on the control panel moving him forward, another moving backward, and two more turning them left or right. Despite these new controls, Sora can still perform a series of movements like running and jumping; In addition, he can also climb trees and ladders, grab the edges of platforms and pull himself up, lift and throw objects, and use the Keyblade to slide down zip lines.
Sora can use the Keyblade and magic, knowing that the first spell he learns is Ice, just like in the first Kingdom Hearts. Platines and experience are still earned by defeating the Heartless. Unlike Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts V CAST introduced "auxiliary" characters, such as the Caterpillar and the Swordman Parrot, as opposed to group members from different worlds.
Characters
- Sora
- Dark Sora
- Donald
- Goofy
- Jiminy Cricket
- Maleficent
- Yafar
- Caterpillar
- Swordman Parrot
The above characters are all known to be Kingdom Hearts V CAST characters, but various gaming websites and other websites such as Kingdom Hearts Ultimania have said that Sora is helped by "over 20 characters" over the course of the game. It is unknown who exactly those 20 characters are.
Maleficent is the main villain in Kingdom Hearts V CAST, she appears often after the chapters looking at Sora from his magical cauldron filled with green water, although it may be safe to assume that he is not the only villain in Kingdom Hearts V Cast. Jafar also appears as a chief in Agrabah along with some Heartless Bandit. It is also rumored that there is a sequence where Sora must fight his shadow, Dark Sora.
The Caterpillar from "Alice in Wonderland" also makes an appearance in Kingdom Hearts V CAST, although it has never appeared in any of the official Kingdom Hearts titles. The Caterpillar uses the same method as the flowers in Kingdom Hearts: you can give him potions to make him talk.
Sincorazón
The Heartless exist in Kingdom Hearts V CAST, although the screenshots are only available when Sora fights the Shadows and the Bandits.
Worlds
- Swordman Island
- Wonderland
- Agrabah
- Maleficent fortress
Both Swordman Island and Maleficent's Fortress are exclusive to Kingdom Hearts V CAST, as they do not exist in the official Kingdom Hearts universe.
Swordman Island, also called Adventurer's Island, is a world and the first "chapter" in Kingdom Hearts V CAST. Sora wakes up on the island after the Gummi Ship is wrecked by a strange creature. Donald, Goofy and Jiminy Cricket must be found. Instead of these characters, a parrot will appear to help Sora during his search on the island. He says it would be a good idea to look around, so Sora explores the island. After searching in this and seeing that he cannot find his friends, he builds a raft thanks to the parrot's advice and sets off in search of his companions.
Doing this requires Sora to have to search the coves, rocks, and other areas of the island, much like the start of the Destiny Islands in Kingdom Hearts. It is known that in Swordman Island there is a watchtower, a chamber full of lava, and some tall rocks between which there is an altar where 4 gems scattered throughout the land must be embedded. After retrieving the four gems on the altar and finding all the pieces to assemble the raft, Sora leaves the island and ends the chapter.
In Agrabah you have to fight against Jafar in his cobra form.
Maleficent's Fortress is the final level of Kingdom Hearts V Cast. This is where Sora fights Maleficent in the final chapter. It features the strongest of the Heartless in the entire game.
