Appearance

Merengue's body is light pink with a white layer that covers the top of her head. She has a small horn that looks like an upturned strawberry. She has rosy cheeks, small pink ears, and brown eyes with a triangle shape on the side of both eyes, which have two eyelashes stemming from each eye. Merengue has white hooves and a tail with a peach colored puff at the end, which looks like a strawberry. Her horn protrudes from the top of her snout and resembles a strawberry. She initially wears a Chef's Outfit, suiting her food-like appearance, and carries the Candy Umbrella on rainy days. She, Tangy, Carrot, Zucker, Chadder, Frita and Ketchup all resemble food.

Personality

Merengue has a normal personality, and frequently acts kind towards the player. Normal villagers generally get along well with lazy, peppy, smug, snooty and other normal villagers. Merengue may conflict with cranky and sisterly villagers. As a normal villager, Merengue will usually wake up at 6:00 am and is easier to befriend than most. Both normal and peppy villagers reference an unseen friend known as Moppina.

House

In New Leaf, Merengue has a café themed home, with a few items from the sweets series and a chocolate fountain. There is a minimalist minitable with red tulips on top. Next to the table is a soft-serve lamp. There is a dessert case in front of the minimalist table. Merengue owns a refrigerator with a kitchen island nearby. She has a phonograph that plays K.K. Stroll.

In New Horizons, Merengue's home is similar to how it was in New Leaf. She has a diner countertop with a microwave and pink stand mixer, across from a kitchen island. She also has a white double door fridge in her kitchen. She has a pink loveseat from the cute set. A tea set and cream and sugar sit atop a table. She also has a menu sign and a soft-serve lamp. Music plays from her pink portable radio.

Merengue's preferred theme is hip. Her profile says:

Merengue has always felt that she was born to bake. We're not sure where she got that idea.

Trivia

• Merengue is the only female rhino villager still in the series to have two horns. Her secondary horn can be hard to notice, as it is the same color as the rest of her head to resemble a dollop of cream. Previously, all rhinos had two horns, but this was later changed to just one for most other female rhinos.
• She shares her birthday with Pelly, them both having a birthday on March 19th.
