Starting at 6 in the morning, a platform will appear that will count down the new year.

On New Year's Eve, starting at 23:00, when you continue the game, the countdown will be announced from the station. The neighbors and Tortimer (this will be once it is New Years) will be at the lake. There will be a panel that will count down, above it will be written "COUNTDOWN" and when the count reaches 0 the letters will change to "HAPPY YEAR". The neighbors will have confetti in their hands that they will use when the count ends. When this happens, the neighbors will also celebrate by whistling and music will be heard throughout the town for a few seconds, and then it will return to normal. However, the lake will continue to have a festive music of its own. The party will last all day 1 of January.

If you are in the lake, from time to time, the neighbors there will talk saying that there is a certain amount of time (for example 15 minutes) without you talking to them.

The player will receive a letter from their mother with 10.000 Berries as a gift to start the year off right.

From 6:00 in the morning, the first time the player goes out of his house, Sol will announce from the City Hall that the countdown has begun. A large panel will appear in front of the Town Hall counting the hours, minutes and seconds that remain until a new year begins. Tortimer will appear next to the countdown panel and will give you a Roman Candle or a Bengal if you talk to him. This can be repeated as many times as you want and get more and more objects of these. Players can use them when the big event arrives to celebrate it (equips from the menu and with New Year it will start to be used until it is consumed and they will disappear.

Exactly at 23:00 at night, a message will come out announcing from the Town Hall that it is time to start the celebration. The message will also appear if the player starts playing after this time, just after leaving home. Special music will be heard in the background from now until the end of the celebration. Several neighbors will meet around the panel, but only if this is the first time that they celebrate the new year in that town. As time passes, the neighbors will be more and more excited with the arrival of 0:00 in their conversations. At 23:50 PM and 23:55 PM, the music will change. And finally, at 23:59 p.m., the music will be muted and the Panel will begin to emit sounds for every second that passes.

When it is already 00:00, the town clock will sound the Town Tune (as always when it is on the dot) and the panel will change from the countdown to showing "New Year!" After this and for the next 2 hours, there will be a fireworks display (you can see them on the screen above the Nintendo DS). Unlike the previous version, the neighbors will not celebrate it in such a noticeable way, but they will wish you a Happy New Year if you talk to them. At this point Tortimer will also stop offering us objects to celebrate it. The New Year will end in full at 2:00 PM.

The next day (January 1), the player will receive a letter from his mother that will bring 10.000 Berries as a gift to start the year off right. Four neighbors who are very friendly with them will send you a letter wishing you a happy new year, that happens if you talk to them too, Mayor Tortimer will give you a lucky letter but it is not true and there is different music throughout the day.
