History
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Ventus is the first person to visit this world. First he meets Fil, who is trying to decide whether to train Hercules or Zack. Fil says that anyone who tries out in the tournament can train in it. Zack eagerly runs to the Colosseum, while Ven vows to help train Hercules, turn him into a hero, and return him to his rightful place on Mount Olympus. Herc and Zack eventually face off in the tournament, but the fight is interrupted by a swarm of Nescientes in the city. Ven goes to fight them, and Hercules withdraws from the tournament and goes with him. They are both finished, when Zack arrives. He wanted to help his friends. Phil thanks Ven for giving Hercules strength to become a hero, decides to train him.
Terra is the second person to visit this world. He meets Hercules and some Nescient during his arrival. The hero-in-training complements Terra's strength and recommends that he compete in future games. He heads towards the Colosseum, where Hades is devising a plan to defeat Zeus. He approaches Terra and tells him that by hiding his darkness, he is losing his power. Terra has the offer of Hades to help him control his darkness by introducing him to the games. However, as Terra continues to compete, Hades begins to see that Terra wants his darkness and begins to think of a new plan when Zack enters to compete. Inside the arena, Terra and Zack face off, with the Keyblade wielder victorious. However, as Terra turns to leave, Zack awakens with a dark aura and attacks. Zack tries to resist that power, remembering when darkness took hold of Terra in the Enchanted Kingdom. Hades appears, saying that it is about the power that Terra can have. Terra refuses and fights Zack again. Terra wins again and Hades realizes that he has been defeated and disappears. Zack calls Terra a hero and promises to have revenge one day.
Aqua is the last person to visit this world. There, he meets Hercules and Fil, who continue with the training. Hercules says that he wants to be strong like champion Terra. Fil mentions that Terra could return again at any moment, so Aqua agrees to enter the games in hopes of seeing him. Aqua reaches the final against Zack. Zack wants to win this tournament to face Terra again, the champion of the other tournament. Zack still wants his rematch with Terra. In the fight, Aqua is the victor. Hades appears again to check on the new competitor. He also calls Terra a coward for losing his darkness. Aqua wants to fight, but Hades says he's going to have to do it in a tournament, by the rules. However, Hades shows up with the ice colossus, saying it doesn't have to be one on one. Zack wants to help Aqua, but she insists on handling the Titan god alone. Hades is defeated and vows to return. Aqua leaves the Coliseum, and Zack asks her out on a date. Embarrassed Aqua politely rejects the offer, but Zack says that maybe he can do it and will shut down when he is a hero, but Aqua refuses to make that promise. Zack leaves when Herc returns, disappointed to miss the big tournament. Aqua tells him that his heart is on the right path to becoming a hero.
During the end credits, Hercules continues his training with Phil. Zack is seen at the doors, looking up when a black feather floats past him, and disappears.
Kingdom Hearts
When Sora first enters the Colosseum, Fil, who is busy preparing the games, mistakes him for Hercules. When he realizes his mistake, Fil allows Sora to prove himself in training. Although Sora passes them, Fil does not allow him to participate in the games. Disappointed, Sora exits, only to
meet Hades, who grants him an entry pass for the preliminaries. Sora gives the pass to Fil who, surprised, lets him participate in the preliminaries. The final battle of the preliminaries is with Cloud who is secretly working for Hades. After defeating or losing against Cloud, Cerberus appears (there may be two different videos depending on whether you win or lose. But in any case, at the end of the battle, Cerberus appears). Hercules holds the beast out until Sora returns to defeat him, gaining entry to the games. This world's lock is hidden under a large block of stone.
Tournaments
During the game, various tournaments will be unlocked. There are four modes for each cup. First, the normal mode where Sora, Donald and Goofy face off against enemies. After winning a cup in that mode, the solo mode will be unlocked, where Sora faces all the enemies alone. The third mode is a time-limited one, and the last mode allows the team to take on any enemy in the cup. The modes are opened in succession, and only for a specific cup. The following is a list of the cups and how to unlock them:
- Copa Fil - Seal the lock of Paso City
- Copa Pegaso - Complete Monster.
- Hercules Cup - Seal the lock on Halloween Town and Neverland.
- Hades Cup - Seal the lock of Hollow Bastion.
- Combat of Gold - Complete the Hades Cup.
- Platinum Match - Seal the lock of Hollow Bastion and unlock all the other cups.
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
This time, Cloud and Hercules are the only ones involved in the games, which includes an obstacle course. Hades has hired Cloud to defeat Hercules, in exchange for the god of the underworld to restore Cloud's lost memory. The latter loses to Hercules, but despite Hades refusing to restore his memories, Sora supports Cloud, telling him that even small events can help him remember things.
Kingdom Hearts 358 / 2 Days
On Roxas' 117th day in the Organization, he and Xigbar set out to investigate a new world, the Olympus Coliseum. Xigbar tells Roxas that they are looking for someone who could potentially become a member of the Organization. He explains to her where the Organization's members come from: when a strong heart is taken over by darkness, a Nobody is created at the same time as a Heartless, and the strongest of Nobodies are reunited in the Organization. On the other hand, Roxas and Xion are particularly special Nobodies, even within the Organization.
Roxas and Xigbar defeat some nearby Heartless, who attracts Fil's attention, runs further, confusing Roxas to be the candidate for Hercules' new apprentice. Roxas realizes that Xigbar has disappeared. After Fil tells him to report to training and runs off to the Colosseum, then Xigbar reappears. He explains that the Organization must keep its movements under wraps, and that the idea of Roxas being a candidate for an apprentice is fun. He leaves the great hero in training, which he now allows to enter the Colosseum, to carry out the investigation himself.
Roxas takes a look around, wondering what the huge rankings on the wall may be about and which number one name, Sora on one board and Hercules on another, could be. It is a moment his concern about the massive statues outside the Colosseum gates, wondering if this world could be the home of the giant warriors. But he soon realizes that this is just a Colosseum, and reports to Phil's training.
No matter how hard Roxas works, Phil sets higher and higher goals - until finally, exhausted, he calls himself closed for the day. He learns from Phil that he is looking for strong warriors to enter the Tournament Colosseum, especially with the Heartless who have been turning up lately. Phil laughs openly at Roxas's request to enter, and Roxas has a strange vision of a boy wearing red clothes, and in the same position he's in. As Roxas heads home he walks through Hercules, and Phil can be heard saying about how the "new apprentice candidate" Hercules took over the Heartless while he was away.
When Roxas returns to the side of the Colosseum it is with Demyx, who complains that he is not really cut out for fighting missions - that he prefers investigations. When Roxas leaves for Phil's training, Demyx says it would happen. When the two of them see Phil forcing Hercules through strenuous exercises, Demyx says that if he were to undergo that kind of "training" he would have fled.
Roxas, wondering if Hercules is stronger than him, is about to leave when Phil grabs him and gives him his own workout for the day. Phil explains to Roxas that Hercules trains so hard because everyone is counting on him to be strong, and wonders if Roxas such expectations are the same kind of thing as orders. As they leave the Nobodies, Demyx again criticizes for being forced to fight, and says that he is usually glad he gets the fact-finding missions.
It's over two months later, when Roxas and Demyx return to the Colosseum, and Demyx is as unhappy as ever for being forced to fight Heartless. His target this time is a mysterious soulless, and since Demyx there is a hero candidate waiting outside while Roxas in the Colosseum tournament. He makes it to the final round, and Phil comes to give him a talk, and they tell him that he's counting on Roxas to win. Roxas asks if that's the same as being ordered around, but Phil just tells him not to ask such ridiculous questions and to focus on fighting.
To Roxas' surprise, his rival in the final is none other than Xigbar. He says that he had heard Roxas has been practicing, and I came to see how strong he is now. But their battle is interrupted by the appearance of an Armor Guard, and as Phil runs off to reach Hercules, Roxas jumps into battle. During their fight he has strange visions of the same boy in red, who seems to have fought this creature before. After Roxas defeats him, Xigbar comments that he has truly grown stronger, and returns to the world that never existed. Demyx wonders what the hell Xigbar was doing in the Colosseum - shouldn't he have missions of his own?
They head home, just before Phil returns with Hercules. When Phil wonders out loud what happened to Roxas, and Hercules wonders who's talking about Phil, Phil realizes that Roxas wasn't a candidate apprentice after all - and wonders who the hell has been training. all the time.
On Roxas' 296th day in the Organization, he is sent to participate in another Colosseum tournament, which feels more like mission formation for him. Phil confronts him, saying he's glad Roxas hasn't died or anything - but also asking who he is. When Roxas cannot answer, Phil assumes that Roxas is there to participate in the tournament, and leaves him in despite the earlier disappointment.
Roxas wins the tournament, defeating all kinds of Heartless, and Phil congratulates him, his previous anger seems to have subsided - he tells Roxas to come back to visit us every now and then. Roxas wonders if Phil still wants him to do more training. But although Roxas products to the Colosseum a few weeks later to fight another soulless, he never bumps into Phil again.

Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
When Digital Sora visits the Olympian Coliseum, he encounters the Digital Fil with a problem: the Colosseum has turned into a maze full of bug blocks. Inside the labyrinth was the digital Hercules trying to discover the cause of the errors. The digital Sora enters the labyrinth to finish off the bugs and meets Hercules, who joins his team. As they advance through the labyrinth they battle Cloud, who had been sent by Hades, to kill Sora and Hercules. Sora and Hercules win and Cloud flees by himself, but later they find him in trouble again and they help him. In the end, Cloud joins them. When they reach the source of the errors, they run into the guardian of the Underworld, Cerberus. After defeating Cerberus, Hades appears to defeat them himself but fails. When they eradicate the errors they return to the Colosseum, where Sora says goodbye. Everything was fixed but suddenly he meets Pete, who tells him that he is going to conquer the worlds of the Binarama, then, Mickey tells the digital Sora to follow Pete, and he appears in Agrabah. Also if you do the following phases, you can face the Rock Titan, Behemoth and Ice Titan.

In the manga, the story in this world, passes practically the same as in the video game, except that it does not go for drinks but more as a tournament in general, in addition to the fact that Cloud defeats Sora contrary to how it happens in the game, too. Sora defeats Cerberus with a single blow since as Hercules told Fil that he had already weakened him enough before Sora had to face him, however in the game this happened in the opposite way, being quite expensive to defeat him.
Curiosities
- This world has appeared in almost every game in the franchise, except for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, the reason being that it was not a sleeping world.
- If Hollow Bastion is completed before the Olympus Coliseum in the first Kingdom Hearts, Maleficent will not appear in the scene with Hades, the scene being shorter. It is assumed that by completing Hollow Bastion before we have already finished with Maleficent and that is why she does not appear at that time.
- In the first Kingdom Hearts game, the victory poses that Sora shows when he wins a match in this world tournament are very similar to the triumphal poses of three characters from the Final Fantasy series: Cloud (from Final Fantasy VII), Squall (from Final Fantasy VIII) and Yitán (from Final Fantasy IX).
