Oogie boogie (pronounced "Ugui-Bugui") is the main villain in the Disney film The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). Oogie Boogie is a giant sack, containing millions of insects inside him and, as he explains in his song, he loves to gamble (cheating), especially when the lives of others are at stake. Despite his clear love for gambling, it is seen that he has no ability to gambling, since in the three opportunities in which the result of his dice was shown, he obtained a pair of ones. Judging by how easily he was distracted by the bare (and dismembered) leg of Sally the rag doll, Oogie Boogie is also somewhat lewd.

Of the thousands of insects that inhabit Oogie Boogie, the main one turns out to be a green creature. Nobody knows how he managed to train himself as he is.

Just as Santa Claus leaves home, Christmas Town, to bring his party into the real world, you can assume that Oogie Boogie does the same in Halloween Town. He is the Bogeyman (Legendary Monster), responsible for all the "creepy shadows" (since in the intro song his shadow appears on the moon saying "enemy shadow of the star king, I fill your dreams with terror").

At the end of this film, he dies unstitching when one of his threads accidentally gets caught in rotating blades in his lair while trying to end the life of the protagonist, Jack Skeleton.

The villain who tried to take over Halloween. With the heart that he stole from Dr. Finkelstein, he tried to attract the Heartless, but the result was very different from what he expected.

It is found hidden under the base of Lock, Shock and Barrel's tree house. To access it, you have to cross the bridge that leads to the tree house, and from there descend through the moat that surrounds it until you find the entrance. Another path is the one used by the three children to throw food at Oogie, a large tube inside the house that surrounds the tree and that ends between its roots, in the underground cave where Oogie has his lair. Through this entry they cast Santa Claus in the movie.

Oogie's hideaway is most extravagant and picturesque. It is set around table games and gambling and full of torture machines. In the center of the great room, there is a wheel adorned with skulls, in the center of which is another small wheel where Oogie ties his victims, it unfolds showing a hole filled with a bright yellow boiling liquid and a machine shaped of the 8 ball of a billiard that stirs the fiery liquid (in this mixer he tries to escape when Jack catches him). As this hole opens, a large roulette plate rises, which in the movie Oogie tilts with a lever according to the number he rolls on his dice to throw his victims (Sally and Santa Claus in the movie) into the fiery hole. The large wheel spins at all times according to what Oogie wants, and on the sides of it are traps that he uses in case someone is chasing him. Like playing cards with spinning knives, there's a slot machine that goes off at Oogie's signal and a spinning machine that falls from the ceiling. In the movie, to flee, he presses a button that makes the billiard-ball-shaped mixer rise (the string snags on it, causing it to come apart).

The entire lair is adorned with torture machines, mechanisms and skeletons, which like the rest of the things are fluorescent, which gives it a very macabre air.

In Kingdom Hearts the lair is much simpler, with the big roulette wheel and some of the traps like the blades.

Curiosities

Oogie Boogie in the film appears as a sack full of bugs but, in one of Tim Burton's ideas, it is nothing more than a disguise behind which Dr. Finkelstein hides, saying that he has used it all that time to get revenge on Jack for stealing Sally's love.
