    Ram Rider

    Ram Rider is a legendary rarity card from Clash Royale that can be obtained from Arena Arena 10.


    Strategy

    • Ram Rider herself has a trap that reduces movement speed by 85%. It will slow down reactions, charges like Bandit, Witch and Prince. However, the trap does not stun, so Sparks and the Infernal Dragon will still destroy it.
    • The trap does not reduce attack speed like the Ice Mage's attack, so if you are within range of an enemy unit, they will attack at full speed.
    • Like any other ranged unit, the Ram Rider will target the closest valid target. However, it is unique in that it will prioritize uncaught troops over trapped troops, even if they are low on health.
    • Ram Rider's trap does not prevent troops from attacking. This makes ranged troops like the Electric Mage strong counterattacks for the Ram Rider. However, short-range troops such as Minions (they have a range of 1.6) will not attack the Ram Rider until it is within range, or until they reach it slowly.
    • Trapped melee troops can still attack her, though she can easily walk past them after charging. This can be prevented by placing the troop near the Rider's destination.
    • The Ram Rider trap does not completely stop units from moving, so melee units with a high movement speed such as the Lumberjack or Fire Spirits can still get close to it while attacking.
    • It can easily stop slow troops and tanks like the PEKKA. The rider catches them, rendering them almost completely immobile.
    • The Skeleton Army and Minion Horde can completely stop the Ram Rider with a quick reaction time. The PEKKA and the Mega Knight are also excellent against attacks due to their high health and high damage (The Mega Knight hits the Ram Rider when he appears, giving him more time to destroy them). Place them near the Ram Rider or she will catch them, immobilizing them and dealing massive damage to the tower.
    • It is very viable in defense, given the situation. It can almost completely immobilize individual troops, such as a Golem or Mini PEKKA. This makes her a great counter attack for most building targeting units, especially the Hog Rider, Bombastic Balloon, and herself, as she can slow them down a lot and prevent them from dealing a lot of damage. With its slow speed, it won't move fast enough to allow the unit to break free until it has taken a lot of damage.
      • Deploying it in front of the building's orientation unit will cause it to collide with them and obstruct their path, preventing them from reaching the tower for another second.
      • It can keep 1 troop constantly trapped, fight lightly with 2 troops, and is ineffective against 3 or more troops. The defender should not use it to counter a Hog Rider or Bombastic Balloon in this situation, or their tower will take immense damage.
    • Can be used with Minions or Bats. These air troops can help protect you against attacks like Goblins or Gang of Goblins.
    • The Snowball combines very well with the Montacarneros, especially on offense. The giant snowball will drive melee defenders away from her, while her trap will keep them where they are for the most part. Against certain swarms like Minions, the spell will make their health low enough to be shot by the Horseman's attack.
    • If the player has a building already placed in the center of the arena, and the opponent tries to avoid it with a Ram Rider on the edge of the arena, they can use certain air troops to push the Ram Rider into the building as it jumps over the river, effectively denying the attempted diversion. They must already be in the correct location, as very fast reflexes are required to correctly perform this technique.
      • For Bats, Skeleton Dragons, Skeletons, and the Minion Horde, they must be placed right in front of the Ram Rider as soon as it is deployed.
      • For Minions, Skeleton Barrel, Mega Minion, Flying Machine, Electric Dragon, Baby Dragon, Inferno Dragon, Bombastic Globe, and Lava Hound, the above location must be staggered one tile to the right if the Ram Rider is placed on the left side of the sand and vice versa.

    History

    • The Ram Rider card was added to the game on December 25, 2018.
    • Update January 2019 changed the description of the Ram Rider card. He used to read "His ball catches enemy troops while the ram heads to the nearest building! Rams and pigs don't mix at parties ..."
    • On April 1, 2019, a balance update reduced the Ram Rider's trap movement speed reduction from 100% to 85%.

    Curiosities

    • The Ram Rider is one of two troop cards with the pattern "Ranged ground and air target unit mounted on Melee Building target unit", the other being the Giant Goblin. However, the Rider cannot attack alone if the Ram is destroyed.
    • The weapon he wields is called a boleadora.
    • The Rider and the Ram are the subjects of some emotes.
    • The rider on the ram is currently the only troop in the game that only attacks troops.
