Respawn still doesn't want to introduce Solos to Apex Legends permanently because it "negatively impacted" the game.

Apex Legends has changed a lot since it came out more than a year ago. We have had a new map, characters, weapons and endless changes and events that have been bringing variety to the Battle Royale. Some with better results than others.

Since yesterday we have Duos mode in Apex Legends permanently. That is, in addition to playing in teams of three, we can also do it with two. Naturally, the next thing is to expect the same to happen with the Solo mode, or solo, but that is not part of Respawn's plans for now.

In a Reddit post with the patch notes for the new Old Ways event, the studio justifies this decision based on how the Solos mode worked during another limited event. Unlike Duos, the thing did not go very well.

When we added Solos as a limited-time mode last year, we saw that it negatively impacted the game. Especially when it comes to the retention of new players.

In other words, the people who tested Apex Legends for the first time in this event with the Solos mode they were not very convinced to return. On top of that, Respawn explains that the various characters are designed to be played as a team, so some of his abilities become useless solo.

Not that the developer has completely ruled out its inclusion. They will continue to think about how to implement it properly in the future, but at the moment they do not assure anything.

We're still exploring avenues to allow for the solo experience, but for now grab a friend (or two) and jump into the arena.
