Appearance
When he was in Organization XIII, Roxas wore its black uniform, albeit with a number of minor differences. His pants were different, looking more casual and loose. Likewise, he did not tuck his pants into his boots like the other members did, although Roxas's black boots were similar to his street shoes. Roxas's cape had a hemline similar to those worn by Xigbar and Demyx, with the shoulders slightly pointed and slightly close to the fitting sleeves.
He bears a great resemblance to Sora (and at the same time a resemblance to Ventus). Roxas's facial features closely resemble him, including his bright blue eyes, body, and spiky hair. Although it is not difficult to differentiate them in the real game. In contrast to Sora's brown hair, Roxas is a golden blonde, and his hair style also separates them, such as the concentrated hairs on his forehead, the spikes on the right side of his head (as if the wind had blown him away) and the back is softer and flaky. They also look a lot like Ventus in face and body (this is because Sora's heart became his Heartless and the part of Ventus's heart became his Nobody making Roxas look more like Ventus than he does. his original self), in addition to possessing the same appearance in age with Sora, since Nobodies have an appearance older than their previous lives.
While living in the Virtual Twilight Village, Roxas wore much more casual and informal clothing. He wore a high-necked jacket with a symbol resembling a playing card. Above this, another white open jacket, with several black block designs and a gray border at the end of each sleeve. The collar of this jacket is red with gathered pleats. Roxas also wore two-colored pants, light gray with several buttons on the edge that seemed to link the legs to the rest of the fabric, which were dark in color. The shoes were in shades of gray and black, and had red ribbons instead of laces. Finally, Roxas wore a black bracelet and the white checkerboard print on his left wrist, as well as a plain black ring on his left index finger and a plain white ring on his left middle finger.
Personality
"You must share some of that hatred with Sora. He is too good for his own good." - DiZ, to Roxas.Unlike other incorporeal, he seems to possess real emotions, stemming from the fact that he, like Naminé, is special. Many ranges of feelings come from him depending on his situation. Being the other half of Sora, his personality is similar to that of his counterpart, with a few differences.
For example, he is much more prone to Sora's anger, temperamental, aggressive, and stands his ground, characteristics that had been mixed into his fighting style. He can be arrogant, confident, and determined as shown in his battles, even more so when Riku engages in a fight, proclaiming that he couldn't beat him, no matter how many times he tried. His words do not bite them and he is not afraid to speak his mind. He even expressed some dislike for being compared to Sora from the beginning due to their relationship, which DiZ watches with amusement on their encounter. This type of main difference between the boys is sometimes even depicted in official art, with Roxas almost always wearing a dark air, a kind of fierce expression, while Sora's a little lazier. He is careful in his attitude and in the face of recklessness, which may be legitimately selfish at certain intervals, but not selfish enough not to return to Sora willingly in the end in understanding.
During the game, Roxas introduces himself as the guy to just not let things happen, to fiddle with his fingers and wait when there is something about himself that he doesn't understand. She constantly rebels against what she is told is her "place" and is a very independent person. On the other hand, Roxas tends to be ironically brooding, stoic, solemn, and absent-minded, mostly because he realizes the truth about himself, and at other points when he's confused and lost. While not as impulsive as Sora, they both have little patience for people who seem to be of different opinion than their will or who try to confuse them. He does not have an extreme craving for life as well, he does not take everything with a bright perspective, but he does desire and desire one of his own with fervor. And despite their differences, the traits he shares with Sora are shown in the way that they care deeply for his friends, along with some instances of Roxas being happy, cheerful, kind, calm, and carefree in good company, even is shown laughing.
Roxas also seems to be singled out as the smartest of the Sora half, as he is not that easily fooled by his enemies and is more likely to think through his actions unless they get angry. This theme slightly changed when he got to 358/2 Days, because unlike his own future who had deep knowledge of the issues in the fake Twilight Town, Roxas was born without memory when recruited into the Organization. Therefore, he did not have information on the simplest subjects or objects, making him comparable to a newborn who grows and learns, slowly and naively getting out of his due. That is why Axel serves to illustrate about his questions or ideas, sometimes Axel biting his own tongue on how to explain them. Roxas's attitude, however, was very evident from the beginning, he tells Axel after conducting a mission in the beginning that he could have done it blindfolded. He is easily annoyed when Xigbar calls him "boy" or "tiger".
Another difference from Sora is his heroic condition. Many times, Roxas shows how he prefers to have nothing to do with the Keyblade, the desire to be a normal child, with a normal life, and some normal friends. This is something depicted in Hayner, Pence, Olette, and throughout the series, as he is shown a number of times watching with amazement and interest. On the other hand, Sora, even though he was more or less the same, and was driven by the goal of finding his friends, took responsibility more passively, without much hassle.
In Kingdom Hearts Drop Dream Distance, Roxas shares his memories and emotions with Sora after DiZ's last instruction, giving Sora his hatred.
- He yells and furiously attacks DiZ when he taunts him and continues to hit the entity, after realizing that it was a digital image.
- He destroys Ansem's computer in the old mansion in anger after recovering his memories.
- He happily holds the Champion Belt after winning the fighting tournament.
- When he sees Hayner, Pence and Olette holding the crystal orbs he gave them, he looks sad upon realizing that he lost his, he probably feels left out.
- He tried to cheer up Hayner right after hitting him.
- He respectfully accepts his fate and is reunited with Sora after seeing him despite initial refusal to do so.
- He apologizes to Hayner after hitting him.
- When Sora, Donald, and Goofy leave Twilight Town upon awakening from their year-long sleep and after Roxas merged with Sora, tears welled up in Sora's eyes as Sora said goodbye to Hayner, Pence, and Olette, indicating that it was Roxas, who was crying inside Sora.
- He gets really sad when he learns that there were no survivors of Castle Oblivion, and a great relief when Axel reappears safe and sound.
- He is very happy when Axel returns from his mission at Castle Oblivion and says he was worried about him.
- He worries about Xion when he goes to sleep.
- He yells at Saïx in rage when he calls Xion "creature" or "thing".
- Yell "Stop!" totally horrified when Axel and Xion start fighting.
- She sheds tears for the first time after Xion's death.
- In Dream Drop Distance, when Sora sees Xion in the Nonexistent World he sheds a tear, indicating Roxas is happy to see her again.
Gameplay
Playing as Roxas
In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days you can play as Roxas. This will appear unlocked from the beginning, his best weapon in story mode is the Kingdom Chain +. Roxas begins a Limit of quick and sudden blows to the enemy and then uses a Limit that consists of releasing several rays in the form of the symbol of the Organization. It should be noted that in Story Mode one of his missions has the level reduced by half which indicates that Xion has become stronger than him, but this does not influence the original character panels.
Playing as Roxas with two Keyblades
This is Roxas's version with two Keyblades, Xion's (Distant Memories) and himself (Fiancée). You must obtain Part Zero (obtained at the end of the game in the store) and equip it with three Skill Units (Day 24, 95 and the last in the store at the end of the game). This character's strength is based on combos with his Keyblades, which can be mixed by pressing first on the ground and after the first hit use to do an aerial combo. Its Limit consists of throwing great pillars of energy and its Final Limit consists of increasing the number and size of these.
In the last Mission (Day 358) an exaggerated strength is shown in this character, but in reality the Neoshadows are of a much lower level, since a level greater than 70 is required to be able to achieve a blow of that magnitude. It can only be used in mission mode, since in story mode Roxas will carry the Kingdom Chain +.
Arms
Originally, Roxas could only wield a single Keyblade, which can take different forms through the use of Gears. However, for a brief period in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, he possesses the ability to wield two Keyblades, reaching their full power. Roxas is the first and only character in the series who can wield two Keyblades.
In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the names of his weapons are mostly associated with the pain of separation, loneliness, or light phenomena. His joke weapons are Umbrella and Dawn. (For more information, see the article Weapons of Organization XIII).
Curiosities
- Roxas can control the disembodied Samurai.
- It could be said that he is the only survivor of Organization XIII, even if he was an ex-member and ended up joining their entire being (Sora).
- If the days mentioned in 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts II are correct, Roxas merges with Sora on his birthday being that the 358 days with the organization, plus the week of his vacation in Twilight Village, makes 365 days ( 1 year), being that date that Roxas was born in Twilight Town.
- Despite being Sora's Nobody, he is exactly like Ventus.
- On the sleeves. Roxas has a very different personality from video games and books, as Roxas is shown to be much calmer, gullible, and naive in certain situations.
- His name, Roxas, like that of all incorporeal is the anagram of the original being, Sora in this case and an X.
- In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, he is one of the hooded men who appear on the seashore (the other is Xemnas). When he asks if he remembers his real name, Roxas doesn't answer and leaves.
- Roxas, when using two keyblades, uses the Promised one for the promise he makes to Xion before she disappears, and Distant Memories because the memories he has of Xion, which are disappearing and becoming more and more distant.
- Roxas can use 2 Limit Break, Event Horizon (with a Keyblade), and Mogic Hour (Double Wield).
- Roxas, in his Kingdom Hearts II outfit, has a bracelet on his right hand just like Ventus's, only the colors reversed (where it's white, it's black, and vice versa).
- Since he first appeared in Kingdom Hearts II (although his image appeared after the end of Chain of Memories), Roxas has become one of the most featured characters in all of Kingdom Hearts, although this is due to him being the Nobody. of the protagonist of the saga.
- In the opening game for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Xion points the Keyblade at Roxas as in 358/2 Days. This is because in the Dream World, Roxas appears remembering past times, but he remembers him being in Sora's body, Xion sees Sora as Roxas, that's why he helps Sora, apart from that she is part of his hearts.
- In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Xemnas and Xigbar reveal in the Non-existent World that Organization XIII always had hearts, because when someone loses the body automatically regenerates it unless it becomes a heartless. So Roxas could either have a heart of his own or that it is made based on Sora and Ventus's, that is, part of his heart could be made up mostly of Sora's because it is Roxas's complete being, shares feelings and bears a great facial resemblance to him and the rest for Ventus's because when Sora became a Heartless, part of Ventus's heart also formed Roxas, because his heart was inside Sora and that part The remaining that formed Roxas, must have been more attached to what the body is, which is why it would resemble Ventus, making Roxas the second Nobody who is a different or special case, like Naminé, since he is a Nobody similar to a person who is not his complete being (Sora), it could be said that it is like a fusion of two hearts, that of the complete being (Sora) and the one that he guarded (Ventus), as a result, having a heart made mostly of Sora's and Ventus's body.
- In Kingdom Hearts II, if you lose the initial battle against Seifer, later the one who appears in the photo defeated will be Roxas and not Seifer.
- It is very unlikely that he had the complete heart of Ventus, because if so, he would have become a complete being, that is, he would have become Ventus, because the heart of Ventus is complete and Roxas is a be of darkness and Ventus cannot succumb to it, due to his heart of pure light, but it is more likely that he would have had a part of his (which formed his body) and the other part of Sora's (which formed the for the most part, being the feelings and that he is his whole being).
- The friendly relationship between Axel and Roxas is very similar to that of Zack and Cloud in Final Fantasy VII, as Zack shows a personality similar to Axel's (the hairstyle also resembles) and Cloud to Roxas's (in addition to his color and hairstyle are similar too, only shorter), also taking into account that both characters also belonged to a group that they ended up abandoning (SOLDIER and Organization XIII respectively), in addition to that both Cloud and Roxas lost their memories regarding their best friend that later they recover.
