What is Fortnite's Save the World mode all about?

Save the World in Fortnite: Beginner's Guide

We are talking about a cooperative modality that you play as a team, both formed by other people and by the machine. It's all about surviving waves of enemies, while completing missions and getting weapons and upgrades.

In general, this mode consists of missions where you have to defend certain locations (which are created randomly) from waves of enemies, and that while you find other survivors who can help you in the fights.

There are defense missions where we must spend time preparing fortifications and finding materials for them. And also moments of attack where we will have to deal with these waves of enemies with the mentioned team.

Although the missions are randomly generated, the base map where you do each of the best is not.

What differences are there with the battle royale mode?

Perhaps the aspect in which it practically does not change is that of construction. You will continue to have the same procedure to create structures, with the materials that you already know, but with a different objective for them.

Weapons more of the same. They are the same weapons that you find in battle royale mode, but with other statistics. Obviously you will also find weapons and objects that you do not see in the modality that we know best, but they are scarce.

But in addition to finding the materials that we already know, we can also locate other rare ones that help us to create structures and even to improve weapons.

Ultimately, while aspects such as weapons and construction are basically the same, the approach is totally different. In the save the world mode, everything must be focused with greater strategy, and it also requires some preparation before going into combat.

How does the progression system work?

The battle royale mode has its own progression system that allows you to unlock different cosmetic items, but in the Save the World mode there are many more things to unlock, and this time many of them do impact the gameplay.

In the Save the World mode, due to its strategic component, we can create a team of defenders, builders, specialists and attackers that will help us in each of the combats. You will have access to these support characters as you complete various missions and participate in events.

We also have at our disposal two skill trees, the research tree and the skill tree itself. Both of them will be unlocking passive perks and also access to more gameplay features. Most of these features and options are locked out at first, until you make adequate progress.

After each mission, you will earn experience points and skill points that you can spend in different ways to improve support characters or even the heroes themselves. Likewise, we will be unlocking character cards that will allow us to create a much more personalized team of companions.

What are the different classes we see in Save the World mode?

As you progress through the story in this way you will unlock new characters of different classes. Don't worry because all classes will be able to participate in the battles and in the constructions. This is what you should look at in each of the classes is whether they adapt to your way of playing.

    • In this way we have soldiers who are more focused on offensive skills.
    • The builders that are more focused on building skills and that are also valid for creating even more powerful traps
    • The ninjas who are the most agile and fast and who work best in close combat
    • The outsiders that help us to find better resources and locate hidden treasures.

These four main classes have as many subclasses, making a total of 56 character types that you will have to experiment with.
