    Sephiroth

This article is about Sephiroth. Maybe you are looking for how to beat it.

"Absurd. You will gain nothing by defeating me. You know better than anyone, Cloud. No matter how many times I fall, your darkness keeps calling me! »- Sephiroth to Cloud

Sephiroth, sometimes written as Sefirot, is a character from Final Fantasy VII. In the Kingdom Hearts saga, he is the personification of Cloud's Darkness. He is considered one of the most powerful villains in the Kingdom Hearts saga, even in the Final Fantasy saga. While in Kingdom Hearts he is an optional boss, in Kingdom Hearts II he becomes a secondary character in the story, having more appearances and dialogues.

    Summary

    Pepito's Diary

    Kingdom Hearts

"He was known as an invincible hero in the art of fencing. After a long absence he appeared before Sora, who had won all the tournaments, and challenged him. No one knows the reason for his return. Apparently, there was something between him and Cloud. in the past."

    Kingdom Hearts II

"A swordsman like no other, once revered as a hero. For a time, Sephiroth's whereabouts were unknown, and no one knows for sure why he has returned. He seems to have some connection to Cloud's past."

    History

    Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Zack mentions to Terra that he aspires to become a legendary hero who fought in the War of the 1.000 Heartless. Hades tells Aqua that there was already a legendary warrior who fought against the Heartless, but when it came to choosing seeing how their confrontation unfolded, he sold his soul to the Darkness. Nomura has confirmed that this legendary warrior was actually Sephiroth. Although it does not actually appear in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, during the credits a black feather falls before Zack in the Olympus Coliseum, indicating the presence of Sephiroth.

During the Platinum Combat at the Olympus Coliseum, Sephiroth appears and fights Sora. After being defeated by Sora, Cloud finally meets Sephiroth. Silently, Sephiroth implores Cloud to return the darkness, which he refuses to do. The two engage in a high-speed battle in midair, the outcome of which is unknown, however this is only in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. In the original Kingdom Hearts, it is never shown that Sephiroth and Cloud meet, or that Cloud is aware of Sephiroth participating in the Olympian Coliseum.

    Kingdom Hearts II

Just before the invasion of Hollow Hold, Sora warns Cloud of Sephiroth's presence and his darkness. Later, when Sora heads to Hollow Bastion castle to help defend the city, Sephiroth appears. He asks about Cloud's whereabouts, and although Sora doesn't say anything about it, Donald and Goofy realize that Sephiroth is the personification of Cloud's darkness. Seeing that Cloud wants to fight him, Sephiroth disappears.

During the battle against the Heartless, Cloud is surrounded by enemies. At that very moment Sephiroth appears, defeating everyone in one blow. Cloud intends to defeat his enemy to escape the darkness, but Sephiroth only replies that he will not be able to do so, and that he will never find his light. Cloud vehemently denies those claims, but Sephiroth is undaunted, and vanishes again before Tifa arrived.

After the PCM (Master Control Program) is defeated, Sora meets Sephiroth in the Dark Depths of Hollow Bastion. The villain asks him again about Cloud's whereabouts, but Sora and his companions reveal nothing. He then asks them about them and once again they refuse to answer. Sephiroth then sees Sora's Keyblade, and begins to fight it to test Sora's power and the Keyblade, where Donald and Goofy are left out of combat.

Sora seems to get over it, but Sephiroth just shrugs off the battle. Sephiroth praises Sora for his skill with the Keyblade, but says that Cloud is the only one who can "eliminate" him. Sephiroth tells Sora to find Cloud and tell him that he is waiting for him.

Cloud arrives later, and the battle begins, with Sephiroth wishing that Cloud would accept his darkness. However, Tifa protects Cloud, saying that within him there is light, and that even if he had it, he would only have to be surrounded by light. However, Sephiroth and Cloud continue their fight, and after Tifa's intervention, Cloud glows in the light, surprising Sephiroth's lower guard. The two disappear in a brilliant flash of light. His whereabouts and status are unknown from that time.

    Appearance

Sephiroth's appearance in both Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II is largely the same as his appearance in various games in the Final Fantasy VII Compilation, albeit with a few significant differences. He has his distinctive long, silver hair with long bangs that frame his face, and dressed in a black leather coat. The coat has a large collar that reaches your ears even when folded back and is held closed by a black belt with a silver buckle around your waist.

Unlike the Final Fantasy games, Sephiroth's coat has the red-purple lining on the front. The sleeves of his coat are finished in metallic accents in place of normal cuffs, and he wears black leather gloves. For whatever reason there is an odd, black and red, fin-like growth on its right forearm. Sephiroth's face strikingly resembles Cloud's, which is something Goofy comments on in Kingdom Hearts II. This resemblance would explain Sephiroth's difference in eye color from his original incarnation.

Sephiroth's chest is exposed, showing that he wears a kind of gray strap around his abdomen with two black belts over it, as well as two other brown, cross-braced-style straps across his chest. He wears black pants and black boots that reach his knees, with two gray belts that wrap around the top of his boots. He wears a silver shoulder pad over his shoulders, which look a lot like the shoulder pads he wears in the Final Fantasy VII Compilation.

In both games, Sephiroth wears a large navy blue wing on his right shoulder, a design feature that has been carried by various characters related to Jenova in the Final Fantasy VII Compilation. In Kingdom Hearts II, he wears two more wings of the same color that sprout from one of his hips. Also in both games, Sephiroth carries his iconic weapon, the Masamune (which is a katana with an enormous length), as his weapon. Sephiroth is also one of only two characters not to appear in his "Advent Children" costume, the other being Cid.

    Personality

Sephiroth is a merciless character. He is indifferent, having no sympathy for anyone but himself. Sephiroth has been shown to have stoic and melancholic personality traits, with a tired voice. He is incredibly powerful, both physically and mentally. He is convinced that his power surpasses that of others. He is shown without any emotion, without overreacting to anything.

    From

    Sephiroth en FFVII

When the Shinra Company found the remains of a woman in the North Crater, they believed that she was an ancient Cetra or Elder. This creature, which was called Jenova, was actually a kind of alien entity.

Shinra intended to use his cells to create humans with the powers of the Elders. This is how Sephiroth was born, led by Professor Gast. The experiments were divided into two branches: Project S, led by Professor Hojo, and Project G, led by Professor Hollander.

Sephiroth was born in the Jénova S. Hojo Project and Lucrecia injected Jénova cells into their son, while he was still in his fetal state. Sephiroth was given birth and his mother, repentant, committed suicide weeks later, because they would not let her see him or hold him in her arms; she loved him even though in her dreams she saw what her son would do. Sephiroth demonstrated incredible powers and quickly rose to the high ranks of SOLDIER along with Genesis Rhapsodos and Angeal Hewley, those born of Project Jenova G. Even though both projects were similar in conception, Sephiroth and Genesis were very different biologically, and while the Genesis's powers were deteriorating, Sephiroth's were increasing. This is because Sephiroth was directly inoculated with Jenova cells and that he cannot transfer genes to other creatures.

Sephiroth was made to the rank of SOLDIER First Class prior to Shinra's war with Wutai. It had become so powerful that special reserve clauses had to be upheld by the organization in case he decided to switch sides. However, Sephiroth demonstrated his full power in the war against Wutai, and along with other soldiers like Zack Fair, he quickly ended the war allowing Shinra to become the world government.

When Sephiroth learned of her origin, years later, he took revenge, and began to control Jenova's body. At that moment, Sephiroth manifested through her. All acts carried out by Jenova since then can be linked to Sephiroth. Then, Sephiroth began to use Jenova's body to search for the Black Matter and bring it to her body in the North Crater.

At a certain point in the story, Sephiroth murders Aerith while she was summoning Holy (to stop him), using White Matter, the only magic capable of stopping Meteorite.

Sephiroth managed to summon Meteorite. Later, he moved to the interior of the planet through the Northern Crater to contain the Holy magic invoked by Aerith. However, both Jenova and Sephiroth are defeated by the group consisting of Cloud Strife and his gang.

    Others

    • GameFAQs users voted Sephiroth one of the toughest bosses in the entire Kingdom Hearts saga.
    • Although it does not appear visually in Birth By Sleep, during the credits, a black feather falls in front of Zack, which it can be intuited that it is from Sephiroth. In addition, several mentions are made to him in the Olympus Coliseum.

    Curiosities

    • He bears considerable resemblance to Riku, because they both have gray hair, too, he has long hair and turquoise green eyes; besides that both have darkness inside.
    • It has an incredible resemblance to Vanitas, since both are someone's darkness (Sephiroth-Cloud, Vanitas-Ventus), also both are very strong and apparently only their counterpart can destroy them.
    • Sephiroth was believed to be Cloud's Nobody or Heartless. This theory was disproved thanks to Kingdom Hearts II revealing to Sora and company that it is nothing more than the darkness of his body.
    • It is likely that when he refers to him as the darkness of Cloud's heart it is metaphorically, hinting indirectly to the events of Final Fantasy VII, since Sephiroth was the cause of the destruction of Nibelheim (Cloud and Tifa's hometown). ), of the death of his mother and acquaintances, and that he has been manipulating him emotionally, as if the darkness he refers to is Cloud's great hatred of Sephiroth. Sefiroth makes him understand with these words: "That darkness is born from your own memories."
    • In Kingdom Hearts it gives you 18000 experience points, enough to go up at least one level, no matter how high it is.
    • He is the only boss of the saga whose theme ("One-Winged Angel") has lyrics, which are in Latin.
    • The sword of Sephiroth is longer in the Kingdom Hearts games than in Final Fantasy VII.
